You must come Grand Canyon National Park once in a lifetime
#nationalparks #100waysoftravel
Grand Canyon National Park is not just a national treasure but a global icon known for its overwhelming size and its intricate and colorful landscape. Visiting this majestic park offers a unique encounter with a chasm that is both profound and sublime, showcasing dramatic vistas that are among the most breathtaking in the world.
Unparalleled Panoramic Views
The Grand Canyon, carved by the Colorado River over millions of years, presents some of the most expansive and stunning views on the planet. From any of the numerous lookout points along the rim, visitors can gaze out over layered bands of red rock revealing millions of years of geological history. Each viewpoint offers a different perspective, with vast panoramas that stretch as far as the eye can see, changing colors with the rising and setting of the sun.
Sunrise and Sunset Spectacles
The experience of watching a sunrise or sunset paint the canyon walls is unmatched. Dawn brings with it soft blues and purples that light up the sky, gradually illuminating the canyon and highlighting its complex formations. Sunsets drench the rock in fiery hues of orange and red, with shadows that stretch long and deep into the canyon, creating a dramatic contrast that photographers dream of.
Hiking and Exploration Opportunities
For those who wish to delve deeper than the rim views, the Grand Canyon offers a range of hiking trails that descend into the heart of the canyon. The more adventurous can explore the inner canyon’s backcountry, experiencing up close the canyon’s raw beauty and vast silences, which are as profound as the views from above. The Bright Angel and South Kaibab trails are popular choices, each providing unique vantage points and physical challenges.
Visitor Tips
- Stay Safe: Always stay on designated trails and walkways and be mindful of the weather conditions, as temperatures can be extreme, particularly below the rim.
- Plan Ahead: Accommodations and campgrounds, especially on the rim, can fill up quickly, particularly during peak tourist seasons in spring and fall. Advance reservations are highly recommended.
- Stay Hydrated: The arid climate and high elevations can dehydrate visitors quickly, so carry plenty of water, especially if hiking into the canyon.

Besides the super popular Cherry Blossom 🌸 that most will travel to Japan around end March/early April, there's also the beautiful Plum/Ume Blossom in Japan which bloom around February/March period.
Hikone Castle too has a plum grove in the castle area which usually blooms around mid to end March. We were there around early mid March, & the 400 over pink/white plum blossoms in the Plum Grove were almost near full bloom. It was so amazing and beautiful. Walking through the Plum Grove was simply a lovely and pretty sight, and definitely a must-visit. The weather was still cold as it rained before that and also it's only the beginning of spring.

Up Close with Deer at Nara Park
Address: 469 Zoshicho, Nara 630-8211, Nara Prefecture
How to Get there: 5 minutes walk from the Kintetsu Nara Station
Get up close to nature & the 1,000 over roaming deer at the famous Nara Park. This relaxing vast public park is also home to the famed Todaiji temple & more.
We easily spend almost a full day here, just walking around the park admiring the deer, the scenery, and walking around the temples. Most of the deer are just grazing on grass in the park, but there will be some deer which stationed themselves just beside the Shika Senbei store keepers (rice crackers for deer). We bought 1 pack, and soon enough, we were approached by a deer for food. It's very cute how they bow to you when you give them the crackers. However, do note that sometimes, there will be a few deer coming to you for the crackers and may be a bit aggressive.
Very interesting experience with feeding the deer & observation of them up close.
