Cafe for Chocolate Lovers
#voyagevibes
Another cafe for chocolate lovers in Singapore is Lemuel Chocolate! The cafe is located at Star Vista near Buona Vista MRT station. The cafe has a factory where you can see how the staff working on chocolates. The cafe is nice and spacious with a friendly staff. There are a lot of tables and the chocolates on sale are on display. On my 1st visit, I ordered the chocolate coated madeleine and signature iced chocolate. The chocolate shell was too thick and the madeleine itself was dry. I liked the signature iced chocolate though especially the shavings. On my 2nd visit, I bought an iced orange chocolate which became my favorite so far and a box of bonbons as a gift for a friend. I will definitely come for a 3rd visit to try the bonbons myself.

The coziest breakfast spot in Simpang Ampat? We think so.
Okay, I'll admit it: we're creatures of habit. Especially on weekends. And when it comes to breakfast in Simpang Ampat, Yo Yo Wich is our go-to. It's not fancy, but it's consistently good, and sometimes that's exactly what you need.
What keeps us coming back:
The place itself is pretty simple – small, cozy, nothing over the top. But it's got a nice, relaxed vibe. Usually, it's a mix of locals and with less traveller, so it doesn't feel too touristy.
The main reason we love it? The sandwiches, of course! I always get the Lemongrass Roast Chicken with Egg Butter. The chicken is always tender, the egg butter is creamy, and the bread roll has this perfect crunch to it. And honestly, their coffee is surprisingly decent. I usually get a cappuccino, and it's a great way to start the day.
One of the things I appreciate about Yo Yo Wich is that it's not super crowded, even on weekends. We can actually relax, have a conversation, and let the kids draw on the placemats without feeling like we're in anyone's way. It's just a nice, chill way to start the day.
If you're ever in Simpang Ampat and looking for a low-key breakfast spot:
Give Yo Yo Wich a try. It's not going to blow your mind, but it's solid, reliable, and just a generally pleasant place to be.

A Solo Dinner at Haku: A Taste of Japan in Tanjung Bungah
#localfoodies
Craving a taste of Japan without leaving Penang? Haku Japanese Cuisine in Tanjung Bungah is the perfect spot. Last week, I decided to treat myself to a solo dinner and was not disappointed.
The restaurant's minimalist decor creates a serene ambiance, perfect for a quiet meal. I opted for a cozy seat at the sushi counter, where I could watch the skilled chefs at work. The fresh, high-quality ingredients were evident in every dish.
I started with a refreshing bowl of miso soup, followed by a platter of assorted sushi and sashimi. The sushi was perfectly balanced, with the rice soft and the fish incredibly fresh. The sashimi melted in my mouth, each slice a burst of flavor.
To complete my meal, I indulged in a bowl of ramen. The rich, flavorful broth, perfectly cooked noodles, and tender chashu pork were simply divine.
Haku is more than just a restaurant; it's an experience. Whether you're a sushi connoisseur or a casual diner, you're sure to be impressed.

Nicest Brunch in Perth
Sayers sister came recommended by our air bnb host. And since we had late nights, we'd do late start to the day's. So Brunch always made perfect sense. The first time we attempted eating here, there was a long que and we didn't have the patience so thought perhaps another time with a bit of planning.
The following day we did come in early, while there was still a que but much shorter this time. We got a table in 10 minutes. This place seems to be very popular with locals as well. And having eaten here I can see why. The prices are decent and just about anything you try turns out good. We had the poached eggs and salmon salad, a burger, rocket leaf and potato croffle, their coffee and matcha latte. Everything was delightful. This is one place you cannot go wrong with.

🇸🇬Have a taste of local KOPI@Toast Box!
#singapore
This is the typical and classic breakfast for most of the locals! Lucky for me, there’s a newly opened Toast Box in my hood at One Holland Village. I love the coffee-it’s rich, smooth and strong to kick start my day. The classic combo of kaya toast with a thick slab of butter 🧈 inside, toasted to perfection. Not forget to mention, it’s interestingly tasty to dip the toast into half boiled eggs and I got to taste both sweetness and savoriness in one bite! 😋

If you are at Seoul, consider checking out this chain of cafe called Holly’s coffee. not only will you be able to find coffee here, you can also try bingsu, What I liked is that I can enjoy it alone, as it’s available in small serving in a cup size rather than the usual big bowls, Good for solo travellers who can’t finish a big bowl and don’t want to waste food.
The mango one tasted good, so try it if you want to satisfy some bingsu cravings ;)

If you are someone always on the lookout for new and interesting food to try, or in mood for simple Indonesian zi char/food, recommend to you this store called Bebek Goreng, located right opposite Batam City Square, a mall frequented by many.
Caught our eyes as this store has Bebek - something unique and found more in Indonesia, fried duck. The taste lived up to expectations- meat was tender inside, skin was crispy outside.
Found their seating arrangements unique too, locals preferred sitting directly on the floor when they dined. Try this for a local dining experience if you fancy one. 😊
Green Pandan Base Nasi Lemak

If you are someone who loves Singapore local food, nasi lemak should be in it as one of the favourite items :) If you are tired of the usual Chong Pang and Ponngol nasi lemak crowd and want to have one during lunch time, try this Hi Leskmi Nasi lemak store. It is unique as it’s rice has a nice Pandan flavour that makes it green colour, and also the big, satisfactory otah which comes along with it.
Fried chicken wing is also a must try. Prices for a seat cost only around $3 though the dining environment is non air conditioned, so worth checking out on days when it is not too sunny.
Fried Mee Sua at Murni
If you are at Kuala Lumpur and want something to eat after mall closes, consider taking a grab down to SS2-Murni shop.
This store is good for its fried noodles, especially the fried mee sua which is pretty rare to see elsewhere. Cold beverages such as coffee and tea are also good - worth a try if caffeine don’t affect your sleep quality. Else non caffeinated drinks like milo and horlicks are also available.
Fun fact: There is also pasa malam nearby on mondays, in case you are someone who likes it and want to make full use of the trip :)

Lovely local breakfast
#localfood
I had been wanting to try something local for breakfast. The thing with taiwan is there are way too many options at any given point of time and all of them feel like snacks. A friend of mine offered to take me for a local breakfast of dumpling and soup in Taichung. It's called Banfang dumplings.
It is located near the city hall and parking (paid) was easily found. The place is small and clearly popular. We didn't have to wait for long as lyot of people were eating there were probably headed to work afterwards. The prices were reasonable. We ordered a whole variety of dumplings and two types of soup, hot and sour with tofu and the other one was a radish soup.
This was a fine change from the hotel breakfast i had been eating. The fried rice comes with chunky chicken and fresh prawn. There is a nice tofu dish too. The pot-stickers and dumplings are cooked fresh for both take away or eat in. The waiting time is barely 10 minutes. They have a paper tick box menu, if you cannot read chinese. Highly recommended for a comfortable and delicious local breakfast of dumplings and soup.

Tasty HK culture
Dai Pai Dongs are known to be one of HK's signature and iconic symbols. These no thrills, cheap, delicious and authentic eateries serve up a quick and tasty meal. Sadly, with increasing urbanization and urban renewal, they are slowly becoming a distant memory.
The one at Haiphong Road Temporary Market is a convenient and authentic one that was been renovated but it's core is still intact. Ironically, it's right next to the blizy shopping streets! You'll be greeted by shouting and persuasive stall owners, but don't fret. Sit down if you want to, or keep browsing until you find something you like. Then order what you want and it'll be delivered to you a short while later. Of course the food will mostly be HK style and it will usually be cheaper than what you find elsewhere.
You'll also be sampling a piece of HK culture and history!

Hong Kong Eats at a Cha Chaan Teng
A no frills, local dining experience that is an absolute must if you're in HK. A Cha Chaan teng is basically a HK style fast food joint where you can grab a quick bite for breakfast, lunch or teatime.
Usually breakfast is the best value for money but a tea set is also great value and you'll usually get a main dish as well as a drink. I would definitely suggest a milk tea as it's particularly smooth and silky.
As for food, I love instant noodles even it's a very basic staple.
All in all head to these inexpensive restaurants for a quick, local and tasty HK meal! They are particularly easy to find in housing estates and residential areas.
