Prayers, Peace, and History: Discovering Yonghe Gong
Visiting Yonghe Gong (Lama Temple) in Beijing was a fascinating experience. Originally a palace for royalty during the Qing Dynasty, it has since been transformed into a lama temple where many people come to pray. The temple features multiple halls, each dedicated to different aspects of life—luck, fortune, health, love, and more.
We made a quick morning visit, and it was truly serene. With the entrance ticket, you even receive a complimentary praying candle, which adds to the meaningful experience.
One of the highlights for me was the beautiful Ginko tree inside the temple grounds, which adds a touch of natural beauty to the spiritual atmosphere.
This is definitely a must-visit spot in Beijing, whether you’re exploring its history or seeking a moment of peace and reflection.

A Walk Through Imperial Majesty: The Palace Museum Experience
Visiting the Palace Museum in Beijing was an unforgettable experience! The museum is enormous, as it was once the grand palace of the Qing Dynasty. Walking through its sprawling grounds and intricate structures took us over half a day, and every corner felt like stepping back in time.
I particularly loved the iconic red walls contrasted with the vibrant yellow roofs—it’s such a striking and beautiful combination. If you visit during autumn, you’ll be treated to the sight of golden ginkgo trees, adding a magical touch to the already stunning scenery.
A helpful tip: make sure to book your entrance tickets at least seven days in advance to secure your visit. This is a must-see destination for anyone exploring Beijing!

A Starbucks Like No Other: Exploring the Flagship Reserve in Beijing’s Qianmen
#favouritecafe #beijing #starbucksreserve #mustgo #Epicdesign #coffeetrip #china
Tucked within the historic charm of Qianmen Beijing Fun, the Starbucks Reserve Flagship Store redefines the coffee experience. Spanning three floors, it blends Starbucks’ signature design aesthetic with unique offerings: coffee on the first floor, tea on the second, and crafted cocktails on the third. What sets this store apart is its exclusivity—you’ll find Beijing-only merchandise and Reserve coffee beans to take home.
For a truly elevated experience, head to the third floor. Its cozy, warm lighting creates the perfect ambiance for unwinding or snapping Insta-worthy photos. And if you’re feeling adventurous, the custom-crafted beverages are a must-try.
The Starbucks Reserve Coffee Martini is the star. Its delicate balance of rich coffee notes and the distinctive kick of martini creates a harmonious, unforgettable flavor. Another option, the citrus-inspired cocktail, falls short with its overpowering alcohol taste, but the Smoked Butterscotch Latte never disappoints. Its subtle smokiness, creamy texture, and nutty undertones deliver a symphony of flavors whether sipped layer by layer or mixed.
This flagship Starbucks isn’t just a café—it’s a sensory adventure. Whether you’re a coffee enthusiast or a casual visitor, it promises an experience that lingers long after the last sip.
Tip: Take your time on the third floor; it’s the quietest and most photogenic spot!

Summer Palace Autumn Stroll
Take the Subway to YuanMingYuan Station (圆明园站) then walk about 2 minutes to get there. There are a few price points to the tickets. 10RMB only gets you to the main entrance of the park itself. 15RMB gets you a closer view to the ruins. There is another place guests can see with a seperate ticket. Guests can see the ruins and other places within the large park for 25 RMB.
Beijing offers the best views in Autumn, many people say. So I booked this trip because I wanted to see the golden and brown foliage in the Summer Palace. Indeed, the views are so beautiful that that I imagined how happy and relieved the kings and queens of the ancient past must be to stroll in these gardens.

Enjoying the fresh Autumn air at The Summer Palace 🏯
#historicallandmarks #solotravel #beijing #autumn ##Summer Palace
As this was my second trip to Beijing, I decided to make a visit to a lesser known but by no means unimpressive historical landmark, The Summer Palace.
The general admission fee was only 20RMB and there are additional fees for viewing other facilities should you wish to do so, however these are currently under maintenance.
I recommend taking around 3 hours to fully enjoy the experience, as it still a popular landmark there is congestion at certain walking points and is rather hilly in some areas.
The park has several amenities to enjoy a quick snack or drink and the bathrooms are neat and well maintained.
Easily accessible from the Line 4 Metro Line, I highly recommend making the visit should your itinerary allow it!
Forbidden City's beauty in autumn
We visited around the middle of October. Though there was a long queue, it only took about 15–20 minutes to get inside.
The Forbidden City (故宫) in autumn is a mesmerising blend of imperial architecture and nature’s golden hues. The sprawling palace complex, with its striking red walls and signature rooftops.
🍁🍂The cool autumn air, combined with the gentle sunlight. We were even lucky enough to catch the breath-taking sunset scene at the Forbidden City when walking along the way outside it.
💰Entrance ticket: 60 RMB per person. They don't sell ticket on-site but you need to make reservation in advance.
🚘Transport: We took a taxi to the South gate where foreign visitors can easily get in by scanning the passport.

Picture of perfect singapore universal studio 🌎
Check in at Universal Studios Singapore during the Spring Festival! If you know something, check in at Universal Studios Singapore! | brushed all the items that should be brushed in one day, but I didn't buy Yousutong. Even as a "roller coaster bull syndrome", the space fortress was brushed twice!
[Too happy]
First of all, there were really not many people yesterday, much less than the North Ring Road! The queue for each project generally does not exceed 1 hour.
Then there is a New Year's activity package when buying tickets.
Online tickets can enjoy the benefits of entering the park one hour in advance (9 a.m.). One-point New Year's package and Peripheral vouchers of S$5.
Rushing into the park at 9 a.m., in fact, only two projects were opened in advance, the 3D duel of Transformers and a super young Sesame Street.
So l flashed Transformers twice before 10 o'clock, but there was no surprise. Because it is almost the same as the North Ring Road!
Then the park officially opened at 10 o'clock, and we went to the space fortress on the coaster coaster. The staff will scan the entrance with a scanner. You can't bring bags, mobile phones, etc.
You have to store them in the locker in advance. It's free within 45 minutes.
There are two versions of the Space Fortress roster, one is suspended in the air, and the other is a human version is an ordinary seat. Of course, the suspended one is more exciting. This level of roller coaster is trivial to me, wine and water 29
The indoor roler coaster of the Egyptian mummy, the revenge of the pharaoh. It is also ordinary, similar to Disney's Marvel Iron Man's.
I arrived at Jurassic rafting before noon, which required the longest queue at that time.
60 minutes. To be honest, it is written in the strategy that you need to bring a raincoat, but there is no need. It is true that you need a shoe cover. The raincoat is bought on the spot for 6 S$6/piece, which is equivalent to RMB.
More than 30. We bought it on Taobao before we came, 5 yuan for 2 pieces free shipping 89
After the Jurassic period was finished, we went to dinner. The meal voucher given in the set meal was a staple food. When I was almost done, I began to take all kinds of photos until almost six o'clock in the afternoon. There were fewer people. I brushed the space fortress roller coaster every 5 minutes.
Generally speaking, the park is a little small, and the Little Yellow People's Area is under construction. It is expected that Open in 2024. Other things, it's not bad!

FUTURISTIC SHOPPING HAVEN
Galaxy SOHO in Beijing is unlike any shopping center I’ve seen—it’s a futuristic architectural marvel that feels like you’re walking through a sci-fi movie! Designed by Zaha Hadid, the sweeping curves and open atriums make this place a shopping and design lover’s dream.
Inside, the vibe is sleek and modern, with a mix of high-end stores, unique boutiques, and trendy cafes. I wandered through the smooth, flowing pathways, finding cool shops at every turn. The food scene here is great too, with options ranging from gourmet coffee to authentic Beijing snacks, perfect for a quick break between shopping sprees.
Galaxy SOHO is more than just a shopping center—it’s an experience. If you’re in Beijing and looking to shop, eat, or just take in some amazing architecture, this is a spot you won’t want to miss!

The Forbidden City
Enclosed by 3.5km of citadel walls at the very heart of Beijing, the UNESCO-listed Forbidden City is China’s largest and best-preserved collection of ancient buildings – large enough to comfortably absorb the 16 million visitors it receives each year. Steeped in stultifying ritual, this otherworldly palace was the reclusive home to two dynasties of imperial rule, sharing 900-plus buildings with a retinue of eunuchs, servants and concubines, until the Republic overthrew the last Qing emperor in 1911.

Beijing’s Modern Marvels Illuminated: A Night Journey from Olympic Grandeur to Guomao’s Skyline
#chinatrip #beijing #awesomepic
My night-time visit to Beijing Olympic Park was an incredible experience. The architecture really comes alive under the lights, transforming into something even more impressive. The Bird’s Nest (Niaocao) was glowing in a soft golden light, and seeing its intricate steel structure illuminated against the night sky made it stand out even more. Walking around the expansive park, with its wide avenues and modern sculptures, felt surreal, especially with the peaceful atmosphere that night brings.
Right next to it, the Water Cube (Shuilifang) was a stunning sight. The whole building was lit up in these bright blue and green hues, which made it look almost like it was from another world. Its bubble-like design really pops at night, and the way the lights shimmered on its surface was mesmerizing. Even though it’s now a water park, the light show outside draws in so many people—it’s a real highlight of the park at night.
After exploring the Olympic Park, I headed over to Guomao, and the vibe there was completely different but equally amazing. The skyscrapers there are on another level, especially the CCTV Headquarters. That L-shaped building, nicknamed “the pants,” looks so futuristic, and at night, the sharp lights tracing its bold design made it look even more striking. The whole area is lit up with colorful lights from all the surrounding skyscrapers, giving off this powerful, modern energy. Guomao at night really shows off the ambition and progress of Beijing.
Winter Wander Through Tiananmen and the Forbidden City: A Journey Back in Time
#chinatrip #beijing #awesomepic
My journey began on a crisp winter morning, stepping off the metro at Tiananmen East Station. The iconic Tiananmen Square stretched before me, a symbol of both China’s rich history and modern political life. Passing through the necessary security checks, I found myself standing before the grand Tiananmen Gate, which translates to the “Gate of Heavenly Peace.” This gate has served as the entrance to the Forbidden City since the 15th century, its imposing red walls and portrait of Mao Zedong towering above. Snow gently dusted the ground, adding a serene, almost timeless quality to the scene.
Crossing the square, I entered the Forbidden City, officially known as the Palace Museum. This sprawling complex, once home to 24 emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties, is the largest ancient palatial structure in the world, built between 1406 and 1420. Passing through the main Meridian Gate, I was immediately struck by the vastness of the space—layers upon layers of courtyards, gates, and halls that stretched as far as the eye could see.
The first major structure I encountered was the Hall of Supreme Harmony, the tallest and most important building in the Forbidden City. This grand hall was used for imperial ceremonies, from coronations to royal weddings, and its magnificence is apparent in the intricate details of the roof and eaves. In winter, the snow-covered rooftops of the palace create a contrast of red, white, and gold that is truly mesmerizing. Standing in the expansive courtyard, I could easily imagine the imperial processions that once took place here.
As I ventured deeper into the palace, I came across the Palace of Heavenly Purity and the Hall of Union, both key residential areas of the emperor and empress. These sections are more intimate but still exude a sense of imperial grandeur. The winding paths and hidden courtyards reveal stories of daily life in the imperial court, making it easy to lose oneself in thought about the centuries of history that unfolded here.
My next stop was the Imperial Garden, a tranquil retreat at the northern end of the Forbidden City. The winter landscape here was beautiful, with ancient cypress trees standing tall amidst patches of snow. This garden was designed as a place for relaxation for the emperor and his family, filled with carefully arranged rocks, pavilions, and paths winding through serene spaces. It was a peaceful contrast to the formality of the palace halls, offering a glimpse into the personal side of imperial life.
Continuing through the various halls and chambers, I encountered treasures from the palace’s past—artifacts, paintings, and delicate porcelain that speak to the wealth and cultural sophistication of the imperial court. One cannot help but be overwhelmed by the sheer scale and detail of the complex; every corner holds some element of artistry or historical significance.
Exploring the Ancient History of Badaling Great Wall
The Badaling section of the Great Wall of China is one of the most well-preserved and visited parts of this ancient wonder. Steeped in history, it offers a glimpse into the strategic importance and sheer scale of this massive defense system that has stood for centuries. Built primarily during the Ming Dynasty (1368–1644), Badaling holds historical significance as a key military outpost designed to protect the northern borders of China.
Badaling is located in the mountainous region northwest of Beijing, making it an ideal vantage point for defending against invasions from northern nomadic tribes. The wall’s strategic position allowed soldiers to spot potential invaders from afar, while the rugged terrain made it difficult for attackers to advance. The watchtowers along this section were used to send smoke signals or fire messages to communicate potential threats.
While the Great Wall’s origins date back to earlier periods, the Badaling section was constructed primarily during the Ming Dynasty when the threat of Mongol invasions loomed large. The Ming rulers invested heavily in reinforcing the wall, using bricks and stone to create the strong fortifications we see today. Badaling was a crucial part of this defense system, protecting the imperial capital and important trade routes.
The Great Wall, including Badaling, has become a symbol of China’s resilience and determination. While it served its military purposes in ancient times, today it stands as a cultural icon and a reminder of the nation's rich history. Walking along the wall, you can almost feel the weight of centuries of history beneath your feet, surrounded by the grandeur of the landscape and the craftsmanship that went into its construction.
Badaling Great Wall is not just a tourist destination but a gateway to understanding China’s ancient history and military ingenuity. Its preservation allows visitors to step back in time and appreciate the monumental efforts taken to safeguard the empire.

Autumn in the Forbidden City: A Journey Through History and Beauty
#fallcolors #100waysoftravel #UnescoChina #autumn #beijing
📍 Visiting the Forbidden City during the fall season is like stepping into a living painting. The crisp autumn air and golden leaves create a beautiful contrast against the majestic architecture. Begin your journey with a walk through the Meridian Gate, exploring the vast courtyards and historical palaces. Make sure to visit the hidden gem of Yanxi Palace, a quieter part of the Forbidden City that offers both serenity and history.
🚇 The Beijing metro is the easiest way to get to the Forbidden City. Take Line 1 to Tiananmen East or Tiananmen West, both of which are within walking distance of the entrance.
📷 The Yanxi Palace is a must-visit for photo enthusiasts. Nestled away from the more crowded areas, its intricate designs and tranquil atmosphere offer fantastic photo opportunities. Additionally, the main courtyards and palace rooftops bathed in autumn sunlight make for breathtaking pictures.
🍜 After a day of exploring, head to one of the nearby restaurants to sample Beijing roast duck or zhajiangmian (noodles with bean paste), both popular local dishes. These traditional flavors perfectly complement your cultural journey.
💡 Make sure to buy your entrance ticket online well in advance to secure your spot, as tickets often sell out quickly, especially during peak seasons.

Winter’s Serenity: Discover the Timeless Beauty of Beijing’s Summer Palace
#100waysoftravel #beijing
While renowned as a summer retreat, Beijing’s Summer Palace (颐和园) transforms into a tranquil winter wonderland, offering a serene contrast to the bustling city. Located in the northwest of Beijing, this vast imperial garden was originally built in 1750 during the Qing Dynasty as a royal retreat, designed for emperors to escape the summer heat. The Summer Palace, or Yiheyuan, is steeped in history, reflecting the grandeur and elegance of ancient Chinese architecture, with its carefully designed landscapes, temples, and bridges.
In winter, the palace takes on a unique charm as the sprawling Kunming Lake freezes over, often becoming a glistening canvas for ice skating. The iconic Longevity Hill, dotted with pavilions and pagodas, is dusted with snow, creating picturesque views that feel timeless. The stillness of the season enhances the beauty of landmarks like the Seventeen-Arch Bridge, Marble Boat, and the grand halls that echo the opulence of imperial times.
Once a symbol of imperial leisure, the Summer Palace today serves as a public park, where visitors can embrace its breathtaking views and historic atmosphere. Whether you’re walking along its peaceful paths, admiring the frozen lakes, or exploring its ancient halls, the Summer Palace in winter offers a peaceful and magical experience that highlights the delicate balance of nature and history.
Admission ticket: please purchase the ticket few days in advance before your travel date. Ticket costs RMB40 during off season.

The Forbidden City is one of the most famous building in Beijing. It is an imperial palace complex that was commissioned in 1406 by the Yongle emperor of the Ming dynasty.
The complex was named like that because access to the area was barred to most of people of the realm. Government functionaries and even the imperial family were permitted only limited access. Only the emperor alone could enter any section.
The site is in the list of UNESCO World Heritage from 1987.

Discovering the Mutianyu Great Wall with a Local Guide: A Journey Through Time and Scenic Beauty
#localtourguides #100waysoftravel #beijing #7wondersoftheworld #thegreatwall
On a crisp morning, I joined a package tour to the Mutianyu Great Wall, complete with transportation and a knowledgeable local guide. The 90-minute bus ride from Beijing was filled with fascinating stories about the Wall’s history, setting the tone for the adventure ahead.
At the entrance, our guide offered a great tip: take the cable car up to save energy and the slide down for a thrilling end. The cable car provided stunning views of the Wall stretching over the mountains, and once at the top, we explored watchtowers and quieter sections with panoramic vistas, perfect for photos.
Lunchtime brought us to a nearby village, where we enjoyed a bowl of zhajiangmian, a local specialty of noodles with soybean paste, offering a delicious taste of northern China.
The highlight of the day came as we descended via the slide, racing down the mountain through the forest—a fun and exhilarating way to end our visit.
Quick Tips:
• Transport: Opt for a package with bus transport and a guide.
• Photo Spots: Higher watchtowers and quieter sections offer the best views.
• Local Dish: Try zhajiangmian for an authentic taste of the region.
• Pro Tip: Cable car up, slide down for the perfect mix of ease and excitement!
