Discovering Bohol: Nature, Food and Fun
My trip to Bohol in the Philippines was nothing short of grandiose, filled with unforgettable experiences at some of the island's most iconic destinations. Bohol is a treasure trove of natural beauty and cultural heritage.
1. A Man-Made Forest
I began my adventure at the Bilar Man-Made Forest, a stunning two-kilometer stretch of towering mahogany trees. Walking through this lush forest felt like stepping into a fairytale, with sunlight filtering through the dense canopy.
2. Observing Tarsier
I visited the Tarsier Sanctuary, where I observed these tiny primates up close. Watching the adorable tarsiers with their large eyes was a heartwarming experience, showcasing the conservation efforts in Bohol.
3. Floating Restaurant on the Loboc River
I enjoyed a delightful meal on a floating restaurant along the Loboc River. As we cruised, I savored traditional Filipino dishes while taking in breathtaking views and listening to live music.
4. Alona Beach
My journey continued at Alona Beach, where soft white sands and crystal-clear waters awaited me. I relaxed by the shore, soaking up the sun and enjoying the vibrant atmosphere.
5. Chocolate Hills
Finally, I visited the famous Chocolate Hills, an iconic landscape unique to Bohol. Standing atop a viewing platform, I marveled at the sight of over a thousand perfectly shaped hills rolling across the horizon.

Chocolate Hills, Bohol.
The Chocolate Hills are a prominent tourist attraction in Bohol, featuring around 1,200 uniquely shaped mounds. During the dry season, the grass on the hills dries up and turns brown, resembling chocolate, which is how they got their name.
Scenery: The hills are evenly distributed, and the view from the observation deck is particularly breathtaking.
Nature: The hills are mainly covered with grasslands, and the surrounding area is rich in natural beauty.
Culture: There are local legends and myths that provide an interesting background for visitors.
Activities
Trekking: You can explore the area between the hills or enjoy nearby trails.
Photography: The stunning scenery makes it a popular spot for photography enthusiasts.
It is recommended to visit early in the morning or in the evening to enjoy especially beautiful views.
The Only Place in the World to Meet Tarsiers: Bohol!
The park in Bohol Island where you can find tarsiers is called the 'Bohol Tarsier Sanctuary.' In this sanctuary, you can observe the tarsiers, which are endemic to the Philippines, and efforts are made to protect their natural habitat.
The usual operating hours of the Bohol Tarsier Sanctuary are from 9 AM to 5 PM. However, it is recommended to check the official website or local information before visiting, as hours may change during peak seasons or special events.
Under the sea at Doljo Beach
Bohol has so many great diving sites, and Doljo beach is one of them. The marine life here is beautiful and you get to get up close to turtles. The visibility is pretty decent and the average temperature is 29degrees. Its a perfect dive spot for new and experienced divers. This site is also very close to shore which gives you the opportunity to go back for lunch before your second dive.#doljo #beach #bohol #diving
Fun in the sun at Mithi Resort
The Mithi Resort and Spa is such a beautiful place to spend your holiday. This resort has gorgeous grounds, friendly staff and spectacular views. To top it all off it has a private beach. In- house guests can use the facilities at their leisure, but external guests can buy a day pass which is based on consumption. I spent two days here and it was so worth it. The peaceful beach, and multiple swimming pools were perfect for soaking up the sun. I would highly recommend this resort to anyone traveling to Bohol. #Mithi #beach #bohol #luxuryhotel

Hidden paradise in Bohol that is away from crowd
📍Bohol Social Club
After disembarking at Tagbilaran Port in Bohol, my quest for rest and relaxation led me to the enchanting Bohol Social Club, just a 20-minute tricycle ride away.
This quaint restaurant, set against the stunning backdrop of the sea, offered the perfect respite from my journey. 🌊
🍳While the cuisine was of average standard, it was the restaurant's mesmerizing view that truly capture my heart. Sitting there, with the expanse of the ocean before me, I found the peace and tranquility I was seeking.
🍸 The Margherita cocktail at Bohol Social Club offers a burst of refreshment with its mix of tequila, fresh lime juice, and a hint of orange liqueur. Chilled and tangy, it complements the serene seaside setting, providing a sip of tropical bliss against the backdrop of the ocean's gentle whispers.
🌊The panoramic seascape provided a serene setting that allowed me to unwind and soak in the beauty of Bohol. After lunch I took a walk outside the restaurant and managed to capture some nice photo with sea view. The kind staff there offered to help me and my partner to take some nice pics 📸👍

The Monument of the Blood Compact 🇵🇭🇪🇸
This is the first International treaty between Spain and the Philippines!!!
The Legazpi-Sikatuna Blood Compact or Sandugo (Spanish: Pacto de Sangre) was a blood compact between the Spanish explorer Miguel López de Legazpi and Datu Sikatuna, chieftain of Bohol, on March 16, 1565 to seal their friendship following tribal tradition.
The sculpture re-enacting the Sikatuna-Legazpi blood compact was made by Napeleon Abueva, a Boholano and the National Artist for Sculpture.
The sculptured monument consists of 5 life-sized bronze images of men gathered around a table, with Sikatuna and Legazpi seated and making a toast. Three conquistadores, as witnesses, stand around the table.
We visited in 2019. They sold very few souvenirs here, and the sign behind the monument was missing 2 letters. I hope it's complete now.
Location:
Tagbilaran East Road in the Bool District
No entrance fee.

A Truly Hidden Gem in Bohol🇵🇭
#timetotravel
To be honest I didn't expect much from this cave but I was surprised with it's beauty. A little cave with but very well maintained especially the water. The rocks in the cave are beautifully formed which also adds to its beauty. We didn't get into the water because of time constraints but if ever we are in Bohol again, I want to swim in the water. Very picturesque and well lit. Entrance: 50 Pesos but if you want to swim then that is with extra charge of 75 pesos.
Address: Dauis, Bohol. You can take a tuktuk ride which will cost you 150-300 depending where you are starting but there are a lot of tour packages that will include this in your itinerary. Enjoy!!

Monument of History in Bohol! 🇵🇭
#timetotravel
I have only learned about this shrine when I was in school. It was part of our history lesson in school and seeing it in person and it was kind of overwhelming. History is now right infront of my eyes. For others this is a quick stop over only for photos but for me it is more of an education and informative stop over. If you are a history buff then you will appreciate this stop over. It is included in Bohol tour packages.

One of the Oldest Church in the PH! 🇵🇭
#timetotravel
This is included in most Bohol tour packages but it is only a quick stop. This is a 300 year old structure however it was restored as it was heavily damaged a few years back (2013) due to a strong eathquake that took place in Bohol. The interior is such a surpise, it is elegantly designed with paintings on the ceiling. This is still an active church so be mindful when you enter.

Enchanting Man Made Forest in Bohol 🇵🇭
#timetotravel
This is definitely included in your package tour in Bohol go. A stop over worth stopping as you see the tall green Mahogany trees. Basically, you come here just to admire the beauty of a man made forest which is an eveident of the hard work of the people here. This is on your way to Chocolate hills and so just take the chance and take some snaps of this forest. I had an opportunity to visit this place twice and it is always included in the tour package. Enjoy your snaps!

A MUST Cruise Along Loboc River! 🇵🇭
#timetotravel
This is a very nice cruise experience down the Loboc River in Bohol. My family eally enjoyed the relaxing vibe of the cruise especially that it comes with a buffet meal. Everyone was happy and full tummy. There are some performances as well that we can watch as well. We were entertained that we feel like the 850 pesos per person was well worth it. The cruise takes a little bit more than an hour to enjoy the sight of the greenery, mangroves and palm trees. Enjoy your experience!

Zipline bike Chocolate Hill
I honestly didn't think I'd go through with it, but I did 😅
This experience was thrilling that's for sure. We got to the adventure park and booked the zipline and buggy experience. It was super exciting to be up high and seing the views of the chocolate hills! I loved every moment of it. Driving around in the buggy was super fun too. The guide used my phone to capture lots of photos and videos, it was awesome! #chocolatehills #bohol #philippines

Flushing Meadows
The best part of this resort is the pool, scenic surroundings and serene location! The pool area also has a nice view overlooking the sea. The resort is scenic and great for taking pictures around the area. If it’s high tide, you can also kayak/paddleboat on the sea. They offer some other water sports but we did not try them out.
In terms of location, if you’re looking for peace and quiet and a bit away from the busy area, it is great. However, it may be inconvenient to stay here for very long. We enjoyed our few days here before moving to closer to Danao Beach.
Facilities and room may not be the most luxurious, but they are decent. Their service is great though! The food is just ok but price is a bit higher that we expected.
🇵🇭 🔝Bohol - must see⤴️
🌟One of the highlights of my visit was exploring the unique attractions that Bohol has to offer, including the Tarsier Conservation Area and the Butterfly Sanctuary.
1️⃣The Tarsier Conservation Area was an absolute delight. These adorable, tiny creatures are native to the Philippines, and getting to see them up close in their natural habitat was a truly magical experience. The conservation area is thoughtfully designed to provide a safe and conducive environment for the tarsiers, allowing visitors like me to observe them without causing any disturbance. It was incredible to witness their big, expressive eyes and witness their nimble movements as they leaped from tree to tree. ✅The knowledgeable guides provided insightful information about the tarsiers and their conservation efforts, which made the experience even more meaningful.
🌟Aside from the attractions, Bohol itself is a stunning island that offers so much more. Its white sandy beaches, crystal-clear waters, and lush green landscapes create a postcard-perfect backdrop for any adventure. Whether snorkeling in the vibrant coral reefs, cruising along the Loboc River, or exploring the mysterious Chocolate Hills, every moment felt like a dream come true. Definitely will be back.

Sagbayan Peak bohol
Sagbayan Peak is a mountain resort and recreation center located in the town of Sagbayan, about 45 miles northwest of Tagbilaran City.
Sagbayan means “place for hanging”, which came from the Visayan Word Sagbay that means “to hang”. As per locals, the inhabitants of the town came up the name of place because inhabitants practice of hanging deer hides on trees to dry after hunting expeditions.

Tiny Tarsiers!
With its tail longer than its body, it has large brown eyes, hairless ears and long finger-like claws. It has gray fur and a nearly naked tail that is more often than not about 232 mm in length. The tails arc over their back when they hop on the ground apparently to balance themselves. The underside of the tail has dermal ridges such as those found on human hands and feet.
Tarsiers have large mesmerizing eyes whose bony eye sockets are larger than that of its brain case as well as of its stomach. The eye sockets have post-orbital closure which keeps the eyeballs from being pressed against by the powerful temporal muscles to their sides.
Second encounter with these endangered species.
It’s true, they are mesmerizing and it’s really sad to know that only a few made it after typhoon Odette struck this beautiful island of Bohol.
Nevertheless, we were delighted to see them even though they appeared to be sleepy during our visit 😅

A Captivating Hideaway in Bohol
Other than the comfort and the services that an establishment offers, the overall look and ambience now play a part in the hotel selection process. Browsing through available hotels in Panglao, Bohol, my attention was captured by Ultra Mint Dive Resort. As I booked the stay, I knew it was going to be a great lodging experience. And I was not mistaken. The room was very clean and comfortable and was even adorned with straw hats that elevated the cozy feels of the place. The staff greeted us with such warmth every morning as we enjoyed our breakfast in the stylish common area. It is a few minutes from the beach, but the resort has its very own pool if you wanted to take an ultra relaxing dip. #bohol #resort #vacation
Around the World in 80 Minutes
I am looking forward to the day when I can see every country's iconic landmark with my very eyes. It's definitely going to take time, energy, and money. Mirror of the World in Bohol recreates popular landmarks and features them in a park. Some of the notable ones I admired inside the park were the Golden Gate Bridge of the USA, Singapore's Merlion, and the Eiffel Tower of Paris. It was the last stop of our tour for the day so we waited till nightfall and it's as if the landmarks came more alive and stunning with the lights depicting how the actual sites they were based on are showcased. It's like being around the world in just over an hour! #mirroroftheworld #aroundtheworld #travel #bohol
