No trip to Nara is complete without visiting the Nara Park!
#japantrip #nara #narapark #japan #travel #thingstodo #myitinerary
Nara Park and the deer are probably the only reason for many to visit Nara. It takes approximately 1 hour from Osaka to Nara by car and many would do it for a day trip (we stayed in Nara for a night). The Nara Park is huge and would require a bit of walking so be prepared to dress up accordingly. As soon as you arrive at the Park, you will find the wild deer roaming around (with some begging for treats). Aside from that, you will probably smell an unpleasant animal manure stench. To complete your experience in Nara Park, grab a stack of Grain Crackers to feed the deer for 200Yen, but mind you- some deer will attack you so play smart. For us- we looked for the younger and clumsy ones and we were not attacked. We did witness some tourists being attacked (not seriously).
Walk to one end of the Nara Park and you will find Todai-Ji Temple- one of the largest wooden structure and famous temples in Japan. We did not get to explore further as the temple was due to close (we visited at around 4PM local time) but suggest to take some photos at the pond right in front of Todai-Ji.
Nara
Overall, there are more deer than I expected. Traveling is convenient, you can take either Kintetsu or JR, then transfer to a bus or walk. The bus fare is the same for all routes, just tap your card when you get off at the front door. The dango wasn't very tasty. Shops open quite late, typical of Japan. Each spot is quite far from each other, so you should allow some extra time.
A fantastic day at Nara National Museum, Nara, Japan 🇯🇵
#japantrip
Nara National Museum is a museum that mainly exhibits Buddhist works of art. Its main structure is divided into the main hall (main exhibition hall), the affiliated hall of the museum, the East New Hall, the West New Hall and the underground cloister. Among them, the main building was built on the basis of the Akasaka Imperial Palace designed by the court architect Katayamayama in 1894 (Meiji 27). In addition to the general works of art on display, the museum also often hosts precious items for various temples in Nara Prefecture. Every autumn, the "Zhengcang Academy Exhibition" will be held regularly. In 1980, the Buddhist Art Information Research Center was newly built in the museum, which is responsible for the creation, collection, collation and preservation of Buddhist art-related materials.

One of the beautiful place Kasuga Taisha Shrine, Nara, Kyoto❤️
#japantrip
Kasuga Taisha Shrine is a shrine located in Nara Park, Nara City, Nara Prefecture, Japan. It used to be called Kasuga Shrine. It was built in the second year of Hedong (710). The gods worshiped in the company include the order of the martial urn, the order of the Lord of Jingjin, the order of the roof of heaven and the god of selling. The builder is Fujiwara Bubi and so on. In December 1998, UNESCO listed the
"cultural heritage of the ancient capital Nara", including Kasuga Taisha Shrine and Kasugayama Primeval Forest, as a world cultural heritage. 1,300 years ago, when the capital of Nara was established, in order to achieve the prosperity of the Japanese country and the happiness of the people, Kasuga Taisha Shrine came to the floating cloud peak on the top of Kamiyama Yugai Mountain from Kashima Jingu Shrine to welcome the statue of the god of the god of the hammer.
On November 9th of the 2nd year of Jingyun (768), the flourishing god of the Tenpyo culture, under the order of Emperor Toku, Fujiwara Nagate, the Minister of the Left, built a magnificent and majestic shrine halfway up the mountain.
From the Katori Shrine, Jingjinshu was invited, and from the Hiraoka Shrine, the noble gods such as Ten'er Roof and Bimei God were invited to worship them together. This opened the history of Kasuga Taisha. Since the founding of Kasuga Taisha, for thousands of years, the vermilion pillars, white walls and the roof made of natural cypress have witnessed eternity. The main hall and the shrine hall stand in the primeval forest with their eternal and majestic posture. By adhering to the system of renovating the social hall every 20 years - the restoration of the social hall, rebuilding the social items, and holding more solemn traditional ceremonies, the Japanese tradition can be inherited endlessly. The Spring Festival is full of pure and solemn atmosphere, which can make people deeply feel the vast and boundless power and gifts of the gods.
In addition, there are as many as 3,000 Kasuga branch shrines and 3,000 donated stone lanterns across the country, which have a wide range of influence and great faith dissemination power. The ceremony of Buddha, holding up to 1,000 festivals a year, constantly prays for peace, human happiness and coexistence and
common prosperity in Japan and even the world.

A fantastic visit to the Nara park ❤️
#japantrip
The deer in Nara can be said to be the most healing existence in Japanese travel! Now
I will share with you a punching strategy of Nara Deer.
Address: Nara Park and some other places in Nara where deer are inhabited, such as Mt. Wakakusa.
From Nara Station, you can walk to Nara Park, and you may meet deer along the way. It's not far away, and you can also enjoy the street scene of Nara. If you don't want to walk, you can also choose by bus. You can check the details at
Tickets: Nara Park is free. Wakakusayama tickets are 150 yen for adults and 80 yen for children.
• The best time to play:
Morning or evening is the best. In the morning, the deer are more active and there are relatively few tourists. You can fully enjoy the time of interacting with the deer. In the evening, the afterglow of the sunset sprinkled on Nara Park, adding a touch of romantic color to the whole picture.
It's great to enjoy the beautiful scenery with the deer.
Take photos and clock in:
Nara Park Grassland: There is a large area of grassland here. The deer are grazing or resting leisurely on the grass.
You can lie on the grass and take an intimate photo with the deer. With the grassland and the trees in the distance as the background, the photos are super atmospheric.
Around Todai Temple: The magnificent architecture of Todai Temple contrasts sharply with the cute deer. You can take a photo with the deer in front of the gate of Todai Temple and on the steps, and let the ancient buildings witness your encounter with the deer.
Half-hillside of Ruokusa Mountain: If your physical strength allows, climb Wakakusa Mountain. At the halfway upside of the mountain, you can overlook the city of Nara.
At the same time, you can enjoy the salty taste of the breeze with the deer. This Jiapaizhao can take the good urban scenery and the little deer.3 Precautions for robbing each other with deer:
Buy deer cakes: There are many places in Nara Park that sell deer cakes, and the price is not expensive.
After buying the deer cake, you can start interacting with the deer, but don't shake the deer cake in your hand when the deer doesn't see it, otherwise it may cause the "siege" of the deer around you.
Correct feeding posture: Put the deer cake flat in the palm of your hand, stretch it out to the deer, and let it eat by itself. Don't pinch the deer cake with your fingers to avoid being bitten by a deer by mistake.
And pay attention not to give too many deer cakes at a time, otherwise they may be full.
Respect the deer: Don't chase the deer or pull their antlers. After all, they are wild animals, and we should get along well. If the deer bows to you, you can also bow back, which is an interesting interactive ceremony between the deer.
The deer in Nara is really super cute. Come here to check in and feel this unique healing.

Family Fun at Nara Park, Japan! 🦌🌿
#familytime
We had an amazing day at Nara Park with the family! The deer here are so friendly (and hungry 😅), and we loved feeding them with special deer crackers 🦌🍘
Tips for visiting:
▪️Bring Deer Crackers: You can buy them on-site for 200 yen, and the deer will love you for it! But be cautious—they can get a bit eager.
▪️No Littering: Be sure not to drop any trash—deer sometimes mistake it for food, and it can harm them! 🚮
▪️No Human Food for Deer: Stick to feeding them the official crackers. Other food can upset their stomachs.
▪️Do Not Hit or Chase the Deer: The deer are friendly but can become aggressive if mistreated. Respect their space and be gentle.
‼️The Deer Are Wild Animals: While they are generally friendly, they can bite, butt, kick, or knock you down if they feel threatened or overexcited.

first fugu experience at fugusho
The resto here is specialised in enjoying the forbidden fish, fugu, in a traditional yet professional manner. They have been running for over 30 years with loads of endorsements from their clients. You literally challenge your taste buds through the various ways of preparing the fugus, aka sashimi, deep fried, chargrilled, boiled and then the soup will be precooked into porridge with rice. And I survived hahaha the fugus have a natural freshness and sweet taste and now I understand why it could be addictive to those who are into it.

Nara Park: A Journey Through Japan’s Ancient Heart
#100waysoftravel #awesomepic #japan #nara #japantrip
Nara Park, established in 1880, is one of Japan’s oldest and most historically significant public parks. Spanning over 500 hectares, it is located in the heart of Nara, the country’s first permanent capital during the 8th century. This ancient city played a key role in shaping Japan’s political and religious landscape, and Nara Park reflects this heritage by housing UNESCO World Heritage sites such as Todai-ji Temple, Kasuga Taisha Shrine, and Kofuku-ji Temple. The park’s tranquil setting, with its mix of natural beauty and historical landmarks, offers visitors a peaceful retreat from the modern urban environment.
Nara Park is nestled in Nara Prefecture, approximately 35 kilometers east of Osaka. Its central location in the city of Nara makes it easily accessible and ideal for day trips from nearby cities like Osaka and Kyoto. The park is a haven for history lovers and nature enthusiasts alike, as it not only showcases Japan’s cultural past but also features beautiful landscapes. Visitors can explore its vast grounds on foot, taking in the many iconic sites along the way.
One of the park’s main attractions is Todai-ji Temple, home to the Great Buddha (Daibutsu), the largest bronze Buddha statue in the world. This majestic temple is also famous for its Daibutsu-den Hall, one of the largest wooden buildings globally. Nearby is Kasuga Taisha Shrine, an ancient Shinto site adorned with hundreds of stone lanterns, creating a mystical atmosphere. Kofuku-ji Temple, with its striking five-story pagoda, further adds to the area’s historical richness. Nara Park is also known for its sacred deer, believed to be messengers of the gods in Shintoism. Over 1,000 of these deer roam freely within the park, and visitors can feed them with special crackers sold nearby. For a more serene experience, Isuien Garden offers beautifully landscaped paths and ponds, providing a tranquil escape amidst the park’s historical treasures.
Traveling to Nara Park from Osaka is convenient and straightforward. Visitors can take the JR Yamatoji Line from Osaka Station, which takes about 50 minutes to reach Nara Station. From there, the park is a short 15-20 minute walk or a quick local bus ride. Alternatively, the Kintetsu Line from Osaka-Namba Station takes around 40 minutes to Kintetsu Nara Station, which is only a 5-minute walk from the park. Both train routes are frequent and offer a comfortable journey, making Nara Park an ideal destination for a day trip filled with nature, history, and cultural exploration.
Winter Wanderlust: A 7-Day Journey Through Osaka, Kyoto, and Nara
#100waysoftravel My 7-day winter adventure began with a long flight from Surabaya to Osaka, with a quick layover in Hong Kong. On Day 2, I visited Osaka Castle, where the winter air and the last remnants of brown leaves created a picturesque atmosphere—perfect for photos. I also indulged in Osaka's famous dollar cake and takoyaki. Day 3 was pure magic at Osaka Universal Studios, where the Harry Potter area's butterbeer was a highlight, and though the queues were long, the Quick Pass made things much smoother.
On Day 4, I went shopping at Dior in Shinsaibashi, followed by a visit to the famous Glico Man sign at night. We then shopped at Don Quijote (Don Don Donki), a must-visit for quirky finds. Day 5 took me to Kyoto, where I enjoyed a unique matcha ice cream before visiting the serene Kinkaku-ji Temple. The reflection of the golden temple in the crystal-clear lake was stunning. I also explored the iconic red gates of Fushimi Inari Shrine, capturing many Instagram-worthy shots, before ending the day with delicious cold soba.
Day 6 was spent in Nara, where playful deer roamed freely. Feeding them was fun but a bit tricky as they eagerly approached at the sight of food. Warming up with sushi and hotpot was perfect for the chilly weather. On Day 7, it was time to head home, ending a memorable winter trip filled with culture, food, and beautiful landscapes.

The Bowing Deer
#japantrip
If you've never been to Nara. The only thing you are likely to know about it are the amusing deer that bow. Nara used to be the ancient capital of Japan. In present time it is full of historic temples and shrines.
And as with most visitors to Nara. Even for me a major draw was the fact that those temples and shrines are home to friendly deer who love to be fed rice crackers by tourists. I used my JR pass and I arrived at JR Nara station, after an hour-long train ride from Kyoto. The plan for the day included visiting Todaiji Temple and Kasuga Grand Shrine’s forest.
Also, stopped by the tourist information booth to pick up a map of Nara and ended up getting not only a map, but a suggested route for exploring Nara. The route was probably the same route that is recommended to every tourist. Having said so it was a good one, and the next couple of hours were spent exploring the best of Nara. #japantrip #nara #flowerlover
Nara, the city of deer
It's undeniable that when you think of a city of deer in Japan, it has to be Nara.
Herds of deer bowing and waiting for senbei from your hand. If you don't give them any, they will bow repeatedly, up to 10 times. Be careful with your bags as the deer might snatch, nibble, or bite them. If you ignore them, they might even bite your bottom. A little further, there's a temple with a mother deer and her fawn, which should have been born by now. Deer around the temple don't get much senbei. Don't forget to feed them a lot!
Kyoto in 20 seconds 🍵⛩️🦌
Ever felt like stepping into a fairytale? That's Kyoto for you. Picture wandering through peaceful bamboo groves and strolling under vibrant torii gates, each step a glimpse into Japan's rich history. 🎍🎋 Kyoto's temples and gardens are not just places; they're stories etched in stone, inviting you to unwind and connect with a different time. Come experience Kyoto's magic firsthand - a city where every corner whispers tales of beauty and serenity. 🌸⛩️

Nara One Day Trip: Unwind with a Sunset at Wakakusayama Hill
A must-visit spot if you have the chance to travel to Nara is Wakakusayama Hill. It's a city that's not too far from Osaka, and of course, when you think of Nara, you think of deer. But in this trip, besides feeding the deer, I want everyone to experience watching the sunset at Wakakusayama Hill, which is just behind Nara Park. The entrance fee is 150 yen, and the view is absolutely stunning. The weather was quite nice when we went; even though it was sunny, the breeze was quite chilly. It felt like a picnic where people came to relax and feed the deer. The deer would come out and ask for food, which was quite funny. We waited quite a while for the sunset, but it was worth the wait. The view was incredibly beautiful, and the vibe was great. Watching the sunset while watching the deer was so healing. I highly recommend it to anyone who visits; the view is truly beautiful. It's a perfect way to end a day of traveling, just sitting and chilling with a beautiful view. It's like recharging your own battery. I hope this can be a helpful tip for friends who visit Nara. Don't forget to stop by if you have time 😊

A restaurant in 100 years old house 💯
#2024wish #nara #couplestrip #couplestrip #deliciousfood
This is the 1st meal we had when we arrived in Nara, Japan from Kyoto. The sky got dark by the time where the whole street was so quiet and we cannot even hear the talking of anyone through the wall walking along.
Thought we have to settle the dinner in Family Mart or 7-11 but lucky that we managed to find this vegetarian restaurant through the Happy Cow App. From the Henn na Hotel we stayed, it was a 20 min walk to there and it is hidden in the residential area. Shop was remained closing and lights were off when we were there but that was a sign board showing open so we just ring the bell to try our luck. Thanks god the owner opens the door and on the light saying ok to serve us as last customer!!!
Entire dining experience is unique as we just sit on the floor with a bar table in a 100 years old house with the dim light. Owners were so kind to us and told us that this was their grandparents place until they turn it into a restaurant about 30 years ago.
Overall food taste is good and I will give a 8 out of 10.
In 2024, I wish to travel to Perth, Australia.

Feeding the deer in Nara
Nara Park is one of the must-see areas in Nara City. It is a nice place to see hundreds of deer roaming freely.
Feeding the deer is one of the highlights when visiting the park. Some deer are aggresive tho, they will be chasing you if they smell the crackers, which you can buy around the park for 200 yen.
When you bow your head to the deer, they bow back to
you.
Getting there:
From Kyoto, take the JR Nara Line from Kyoto Station to JR Nara Station. Miyakoji rapid trains depart every 30 minutes, and the trip takes about 45 minutes one-way. It is covered by the JR Pass. Local trains are also available, but take an hour and fifteen minutes one-way.

Exploring Nara With Adorable Deers - Nara Park
Nara Park is an absolute gem! The adorable and friendly deer roaming freely gives the place a unique charm. Feeding them is a delightful experience. The cute deers were the most polite wildlife we've ever encountered, so it's a given that we should be polite too when visiting their home.
The park's surroundings boast incredible temples like Todaiji, with its awe-inspiring Great Buddha statue. There's also Kokufu-ji, Kasuga Taisha, and other interesting sites surrounding the deer park.
Exploring the park and these historic temples is a perfect way to immerse yourself in Nara's rich history and natural beauty. It's a must-visit for anyone traveling to Japan! 🦌🏯

The worlds biggest Bronze Buddha statue
The Todai-ji temple near Nara park contains the worlds biggest bronze Buddha statue in an enormous wooden temple built over 300 years ago.
The temple is set in grounds surrounded by deer that move around from the Nara park, with smaller temples and shrines dotted around the grounds.
The Buddha itself is within a museum and you need to lay about $5 to enter, but it’s totally worth it. It’s absolutely mind blowing, the sheer scale of the Buddha and the structure built to house it is hard to comprehend.
There are many smaller shrines inside and some interesting wooden models that shows the construction history.
If you’re feeling brave and small there is a famous hole the size of the Buddhas nostril for you to try and crawl through
The temple closes around 5 and they do last entry at 4:30 so try and come as early as possible to avoid disappointment!

Oh deer! Thousands of deer at Nara Park 🦌
Nara park is world famous for the Nara deer that roam around the grounds, around 1500 at the last count. These deer have been protected for at least 1000 years and have become an inseparable part of the city, you will see there image everywhere.
You can reach the park from Nara station on bus routes, about 4 stops from the station, taxis or direct on trains from Osaka, Kobe & Kyoto.
The deer are very docile and friendly, If you are calm and considerate you can get close enough for photos and to touch them.
The local shops sell food tor about $1.5 for you to feed them. But be careful, the deers can get very excited about the food and ground around you very quickly!
It’s easier to find one or two deers on their own and feed them, feeding the large crowds can become very overwhelming!
It’s a great trip for the whole family, and then there is plenty to do in the town before you go home - lots of food options and walking streets for souvenirs.

Nara Deer Park Review
The Nara Deers are cute and all but they get really feisty when you have food!
Remember to ONLY feed the Nara Deers with food bought from the park! One pack of biscuits (10 inside) is 200 yen! You can get the food from any white standing wheel carts pushed by oba-chans (aunties).
I’ve been chased non-stop by the deers once I bought my food. It was extremely horrifying.
Here’s a tip! Get your camera ready once you find a deer to bow at! Because they will only bow at you twice or thrice max before they get bored of you!
