East Lake is located near the southern bank of the Yangtze River in the eastern suburbs of Wuhan. It is the largest urban lake in China. The Eastern Lake is crossed by several dams, which offer beautiful views of the surrounding area — the skyscrapers of Wuhan and forested hills. The Eastern Lake covers an area of 88 square kilometers, which is approximately 25 percent of the territory of Wuhan City. This clear lake with winding shores is called Lake 99 convolutions.
