Who is behind CONNECT ? Hi everyone! Today, I want to share a little bit about who’s behind CONNECT Association and App-CONNECT . I’m Karin Kneubühl. My husband Alejandro and I created CONNECT Association back in June 2019. We had a big goal in mind: to create an app that could help people recognize when they might need to make a change or ask for help—before reaching a breaking point. This vision didn’t come out of nowhere. In 2001, I went through my own intense journey: a big breakdown, burnout, and depression, after years of trying to keep myself going without knowing how to handle my emotions or even how to talk about them. All my energy went into "doing" and "helping," while ignoring my own limits. Years later, as I began healing, I dreamed of a tool that could help others recognize those early signs of distress and get support. Fast forward to 2019: I sketched out a prototype on Proto-IO and began reaching out to developer companies worldwide. The quotes were staggering—anywhere from 0.5 to 1 million CHF. I remember thinking, "This is totally crazy!" But the idea stuck. I was determined to make it happen, so I found https://lnkd.in/eHJEp9rX for crowdfunding and https://lnkd.in/e_eyVV5n to recruit volunteers, and we started taking small steps. In February 2020, our first volunteers joined the team—two psychologists, who believed in the mission and wanted to help. That’s when things truly started to feel even more right, since they confirmed that the idea would really make prevention. Though my husband and I were living in Mexico at the time, María in Switzerland and Sandra in France, we started making Zoom team-meetings. More volunteers joined quickly and were scattered across Switzerland, but we made it work. Google provides free Workspace for nonprofits, which enables us to store everything in DRIVE and work together at distance easier. I’ll never forget those early Zoom meetings…, or for example when three of our designers met in Zürich (Juliana, Stephanie and Nagore) and connected me via video to brainstorm, showing me what they had come up with and sharing their excitement.
