Though this post is bit late, but anyways will show my gratitude towards the invitation to attend Global South Academic Conclave for #wash & #climate linkages organised by #CWAS #CRDF , CEPT University and Bill & Milinda Gates foundation on 2nd to 3rd February 2024, #ahmedabad. A very well organised event with so much learning in just two days. Hats off to the students of CEPT and the faculty off course Meera Mehta , Dinesh Mehta , Mona Iyer , Barjor Mehta , Barbara Evans, forgive me if I have left others.
Secondly, attended a webinar on 20th February 2024, organised by Aqua for All on #climate change & #wash led by Jorge Alvarez-Sala Torreano from #unicef Mónica A. Altamirano de Jong, PhD from WaterEquity, Jack Lambert Strosser.
In both the seminars addressed by the esteemed and learned panel in #wash sector, there was one thing in common, that #wash doesn’t have a tailor-made #investment mechanism where private investment in form of equity, stock or asset can be brought in.
It is important to understand that although any #financial #investments are weighed on various economical standards of risk mitigation such as cash flow, balance sheets, P&L etc., but investment in #wash sector, is totally a different ball game, where the #social & #environmental #impact should become the deterrent factor. Major Investment player’s In WASH are very hard pressed on financial numbers and they are very much right, but in doing so they lose the sight of the Impact their investment is creating. The criteria of Impact measurement are also not uniform, WASH & #Climate Change cannot be measured under same platform. The term Impact Investment is very apt for this.
At ASE INFRA Partners AG we have made a slow, steady & secure start in investing in #wash & #Non-#fossil #Energy. The ASE team comprises WASH specialists and financial experts. In the last year we have made an investment of 250,000 USD and plan to invest another 800,000 USD this year. Investment patterns that promote new technology & products, which is bankable & scalable in terms of #economics and environmental Impact.
