On International Mother Language Day, we had the honor of attending the donation ceremony by the Permanent Mission of Saudi Arabia, where the artwork Mashq1970 was presented to the United Nations.🌍✨ As one of the six official UN languages since 1973, Arabic is not just a means of communication—it is a vessel of history, science, philosophy, and art. One of the world’s oldest and most spoken languages, Arabic has shaped civilizations, preserved knowledge, and continues to influence global discourse today. Yet, language is not only about words. It is about who has the power to speak and be heard. Women have always been at the heart of cultural preservation, passing down languages, stories, and traditions across generations. Protecting languages means protecting women’s voices, ensuring their stories, knowledge, and contributions are not erased. As we celebrate this meaningful donation, let us also reaffirm our commitment to linguistic diversity, gender equality, and cultural preservation. Because when we safeguard languages, we safeguard histories, identities, and futures. 🌍🗣 We were pleased to share this moment alongside H.E. Mr. Abdulmohsen Majed bin Khothaila, Ambassador of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Saudi Arabia to the UN and H.E. Yessenia Lozano, Ambassador and Permanent Representative, Permanent Mission of El Salvador. #MotherLanguageDay #ArabicLanguage #CulturalHeritage #WomenInLanguage
