Yesterday we hosted our latest AVANTGARDE Voices session in #London, exploring Discontinuity—the contradictions, tensions, and abrupt shifts shaping consumer behavior in 2025. Sabine Rogg, Trends & Insights Director Trendbüro, kicked off the session with four defining consumer trends: Sea of Sameness – With brands at risk of blending into algorithm-driven uniformity, bold moves are essential. PUMA’s Pop-up at Paris Fashion Week 2025, featuring an immersive brand space and the return of the Mostro sneaker, proves that risk-taking and cultural relevance are key to standing out in a homogenised market. Anemoic Futures – Younger generations are romanticising the past, searching for stability in a time of uncertainty, while older generations reject the notion of ageing. As the gap between nostalgia and progress widens, brands must find ways to bridge intergenerational common ground. Trans-Apocalyptic Pragmatism – Sustainability is shifting from prevention to preparation. Brands like Prepped, making emergency preparedness kits feel like a lifestyle essential, and Pour Moi, designing skincare to protect against wildfire smoke exposure, are responding to consumers’ desire for practical solutions in an unpredictable world. New Sensonomics – As digital fatigue rises, brands must engage beyond the visual. Moncler’s “City of Genius” in Shanghai set a new standard for immersive retail, transforming a store into a multi-sensory oasis, fusing sound, scent, temperature shifts, and interactive experiences to create a deeper emotional connection between brand and consumer.
