Cosmos for Humanity

Gemeinnützige Organisationen

The first NGO for spatial sustainability with and for all economic players.

Info

Cosmos for Humanity is the only NGO recognized as a public utility for its activities in favor of sustainable development in space and on Earth. Our approach is neutral, independent, and at the service of humanity in an impartial and disinterested manner. This gives us the legitimacy to meet the challenges of sustainable management of the Earth's orbits. Cosmos for Humanity is also committed to the United Nations Global Compact program. Recognized as a charitable organization, all donations are tax-deductible. Cosmos for Humanity is supported by a community of citizens and companies committed to the sustainable use of space: the Cosmos Rangers. From the ancient Greek “κόσμος” (kósmos), meaning “universe managed in an orderly, sustainable way”, and the Latin “humanitas”, meaning all human beings. Cosmos for Humanity evokes space exploration acting in the interests of humanity by preserving the orbital environment for future generations. --- Our actions: ECOSYSTEM : Cosmos for Humanity's public-interest status enables companies and individuals to benefit from tax incentives to finance research and development into space sustainability and the recovery of space debris. SPACE SUSTAINABILITY LABEL : the 1st label controlled and certified by citizens, in a transparent, autonomous and unfalsifiable way, this label, developed in collaboration with IXO, enables companies to better take into account the issue of space pollution in their CSR approach, while actively involving citizens. TRAINING : We propose to make all economic players aware of their dependence on space and the sustainable development of space activities. Form and structure a community of citizens and companies committed to preserving sustainable access to space for humanity. ADVOCACY : We urge public authorities to include orbit preservation in their sustainability objectives, as the 6th environmental objective of their Green Taxonomy regulation.

Seen today at DG DEFIS building lobby as I returned to the office after my end of the year vacation. Cannot describe my big 😁fseeing multiple aspects of diversity and inclusion on one single image. 📉Around 20% of space workforce are women 📉1 in each 5 people in the world have a disability ( around 80% invisible disability) 📉Around 50% of European space workforce is above 50 years old We need more diversity and inclusion in Space. Not because it is the right thing to do. But because is the driver for sustainability of the sector and the driver for innovation. Saw this image today, and made me proud of the work my colleagues and I do to make the sector more diverse and inclusive ☺️ Stay tune because in two weeks we have more news to share!

  • 🚀 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗼𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝗮 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲! 🌍 After David Many, who attended the first workshop, it's Fleur Montandon's turn to take over to represent Cosmos for Humanity in this essential work. On 10 December, the 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗮𝘁'𝘀 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗘𝗙𝗖𝗥 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 was held in Brussels. The discussions were rich and constructive, covering key points such as : 🔹 possible sub-categories 🔹 essential characteristics 🔹 preliminary functional units which will form the backbone of the final framework for the environmental footprint of space sector products. 🌱 What next? From 𝗝𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱, dedicated working groups will be set up for each sub-category to define modelling rules, work on Representative Products and carry out impact assessments. A decisive step in shaping the sustainable future of the space sector! On this occasion, you will discover a third member of the Cosmos for Humanity PEFCR team. Many thanks to all the teams for their exceptional collaboration and to the European Commission for its impeccable organisation. Together, we are moving towards a more responsible and sustainable space. 🌍✨ 🔗 Find out more: https://lnkd.in/eP36JhCF Vera Pinto Gomes, Marina Tasiopoulos EU Space, VITO, PRé Sustainability, Novaspace (Merger of Euroconsult & SpaceTec Partners), Ecomatters BV, Ecoinnovazione srl - spin off ENEA, Glasgow Caledonian University, OHB SE, CNES, Eutelsat Group, EPFL, SES Satellites, MaiaSpace, Airbus Defence and Space, Thales Alenia Space, The Exploration Company, ArianeGroup, Alpha Impulsion, Dawn Aerospace #PEFCR4Space #EUSpace #EnvironmentalFootprint #Sustainability

CSR Coordinator for the NGO Cosmos for Humanity

Back from World Space Forum Bonn, where I proudly represented Cosmos for Humanity. Organised by United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA), in collaboration with German Aerospace Center (DLR), Agencia Espacial del Perú - CONIDA and UAE Space Agency, we had 3 days of intense exchanges, debates and commitments about Sustainable Space for Sustainability on Earth. 95 countries were represented and shared the same need to cooperate to preserve space as a key resource to be operated and also as a critical asset to support sustainability on Earth. It was an honor for me to be able to meet and exchange ideas with so many interesting and friendly people. Space is often a blind spot of many sustainability approaches. Nevertheless, extended consideration of all our dependencies, including dependency on space, is the most robust journey to ensure resilience of all stakeholders. At Cosmos for Humanity, we are convinced that non-binding initiatives have a key role to play in addition to binding regulations. Have an impact, become a #CosmosRanger! #SpaceSustainability #CosmosForHumanity #Citizen #Transparency

🌍 𝗖𝗼𝘀𝗺𝗼𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗛𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗦𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝘂𝗺 𝗶𝗻 𝗕𝗼𝗻𝗻 🌌 From 3 to 5 December, Fleur Montandon, CSR coordinator at Cosmos for Humanity, represented the organisation at the World Space Forum in Bonn. Here are the 5 key words that punctuated the discussions: 1️⃣ 𝗥𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀: Raise awareness of the importance of space for everyone - individuals, companies, civil society - and encourage all players to become actively involved. 2️⃣ 𝗖𝗼𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: No single player can succeed alone. Cooperation between governments, space agencies and businesses is essential, whether through binding agreements, incentives or collective initiatives. 3️⃣ 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Sharing the benefits of space, but also warning about the lack of concrete action for space sustainability and its potential consequences. 4️⃣ 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Space data must be accessible to all, particularly for Space Traffic Management, guaranteeing better coordination and safety. 5️⃣ 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: Creating communities and working together is crucial to moving forward. The time for action is now. Cosmos for Humanity is committed to playing its part in preparing for the major upcoming events, such as the #PactForTheFuture and #Space2030, and to actively contributing to these concrete regulatory advances. Fleur has also had exciting exchanges with many space stakeholders, and we look forward to collaborating with them in the future. 🚀 If any other institutions would like to work with us but didn't get the chance to meet us at these events, please don't hesitate to drop us a line at 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗰𝘁@𝗰𝗼𝘀𝗺𝗼𝘀𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆.𝗼𝗿𝗴.
