Congratulations to Günes Aydin for successfully completing his Master thesis titled "Semantic Scene Understanding for Mixed Reality Multimedia Retrieval"! This year, we again organized the "Eucor Seminar in Computer Science" in collaboration with the Eucor – The European Campus partner universities University of Strasbourg (as lead organization) and Université de Haute-Alsace - UHA. In international teams, 18 students from the three universities addressed topics on "AI and Sustainability", "AI and Economy", and "AI and Society". Thanks to the organizers at UNISTRA, Etienne Baudrier and Franck Hétroy-Wheeler, to the experts that engaged in the lively discussions Amanda Sessim Parisenti, Isabelle Wienand, Marc Frick, and all other colleagues that helped making the seminar a success Karim Hammoudi. Our PhD Program #DataScience has continued the tradition of having an annual retreat at the beautiful Monte Verità Conference and Culturale Centre with very interesting and inspiring invited presentations by two former PhD graduates from the Departement Mathematik und Informatik | Universität Basel - Dennis Tröndle from Baloise CH and Laura Cristiana Voicu from Elastic. The three projects XReco, #SunXR and #ViRMA organized and presented a tutorial on "Multimedia Information Retrieval in XR" at the #ACM_MM24 conference - featuring an in-depth introduction on the topic and three hands-on demos where the participants could experiment with different approaches on how multimedia retrieval can be brought to #XR. An exciting Google Summer of Code Mentor Summit has ended, with many interesting encounters and discussions. Polypheny would like to thank Stephanie and her entire GSoC team for the great work and the continued support over the last 20 years.
