🚀 What better way to spend #WorldDiabetesDay than shaping the future and inspiring the next generation? 🔍 This year, Switzerland’s national "Future Career Day" coincided with #WorldDiabetesDay – the national event is designed to guide schoolchildren in career exploration, promoting equal opportunities and challenging gender norms. 💡 We welcomed a group of bright young minds to experience the innovative work happening in our labs, in collaboration with the University of Bern and AlveoliX . It was a fantastic opportunity to inspire the next generation about the science behind diabetes research and innovations in health technology! Special thanks to our team members who brought these topics to life: 💬 Lilian Witthauer demonstrated how glucose can be detected using optical sensors, and lighting up sugar cubes in colorful solutions made the students' eyes light up, too! 💬 Maria Luisa Balmer discussed the impact of gut health on obesity, guiding students as they sampled bacteria from everyday surfaces like smartphones and door handles to reveal hidden microbial worlds. 💬 Lisa Koch & Martina Rothenbühler demystified data-driven diabetes technology, explaining the complexities of diabetes in a teen-friendly way, perfectly fitting for #WDD. Fariba Buchheim’s diabetes awareness video was a big hit and a powerful reminder of why this research is so important. 💬 Judith Kamper showcased ' organ-on-chip technology, explaining how drug testing can progress without animal testing. 🌟 Thank you also to Corinne Nydegger and Lorenz Burkhalter for coordinating logistics and refreshments, Cordelia Trümpy for coordinating and hosting, and to Ebru Ünlü from University of Bern for event organisation! 🔵 On this #WorldDiabetesDay, we’re especially proud to share our commitment to advancing diabetes research and innovation – and to inspire the next generation of researchers to join us in this vital mission! #FutureCareerDay #WorldDiabetesDay #OrganOnChip #DiabetesResearch #FutureDay #Zukunftstag Kristyna Filipova Valentina Viola Huwiler Melanie C.
