To follow up on Natasha's earlier point, let's..." When details begin to bog down the conversation, take a step back with: "Hmm. Let's take a step back for a second," and refocus on the main objectives. Details, while important, often kill meeting progress. Emphasize deadlines to maintain momentum: "Great point. I want to make sure we cover X because of the Y deadline. If we don't figure this out, we'll need to carve out more time to meet again. Are you cool if we continue for now?" These simple strategies keep meetings focused, foster mutual accountability, and ensure that valuable time is used effectively. By implementing these techniques, any manager can lead more focused and productive meetings, driving their teams toward success. Meetings can be a time sink, especially if the leader has not organized their thoughts beforehand. Don't be that person.
