Is there something to CELEBRATE or be POSITIVE about these days on the global #Sustainability front? YES 🙌, movement on Article 6, including a global #GreenhouseGas (GHG) Emissions mechanism (https://lnkd.in/exMBHt9v)! COP29 Azerbaijan is now half way ⏳ through – some positive movements, some stalls and many construction sites ongoing, yet the needed dialogue continues! 1. The #GHG emissions are one of several essential topics on the #COP29 Agenda. It's CRITICAL to agree upon a common global market mechanism for the #GHG emissions, as originally put to paper in Article 6 (IV) of the Paris Agreement in 2015. At that time, there were ca. 7.3B people on 🌏. Today we are close to crossing 8.2B inhabitants, yet in 9 years(!), while we've “added” 900M people on 🌍, we have not managed to “add” a global workable #GHG emissions market framework. However, having such a framework is SUPER-essential, as it… a. provides a mechanism with some base, common RULES to be upheld and thus b. facilitates TRANSPARENCY and (re)installs TRUST. Both – a. and b. – are prerequisites from a BUSINESS RATIONALE & FINANCING SOURCES perspective! Let’s not forget: At the start things are often not perfect, but can be improved and adapted over time. This is no different for a #GHG emissions market framework, if certain mechanisms prove not to be working. Yet, what matters is, to get things started…. 2. And while we smoulder, a number of #Sustainability Solution Stakeholders have acted and put in place different lowering #GHG emission Solutions. Let’s focus on the positive and on what has and is being done at #COP29 and the same in the real 🌎 world. That’s why we CELEBRATE the many #GHG emission Solutions of this world that are already on board of DrivingWhatMatters4ESG (DWM4ESG). Be positive 😃 - Be part of the 🌍 Solutions 💚! Last week’s 🍃 IMPACT FESTIVAL 2024 at the Messe Frankfurt GmbH is done & dusted. Kudos 👏 to the entire Team behind & in front of the scenes (including the welcoming & always helpful reception-info-team).   Our observations 🧐: A beehive of activity from the mornings until the evenings in multiple locations on different floors included sustainability 🌱 solutions & stakeholders exhibitions, simultaneous talks, panels or interactive circles as well as many 1:1’s that took place. Our impressions 🤓: Good spirits, lots of passionate people & insightful conversations (without AI input...) abounded, while also some concerns were noticeable over the lack of visibility many solutions are getting in the face of some rising geopolitical tensions.   The DrivingWhatMatters4ESG (DWM4ESG) team had the opportunity to have both 🙌: A number of visits & chats with 1. sustainability solution providers that are already on board DWM4ESG (ie Daato, SUSTAYN, EcoTree International) as well as 2. numerous new ones that are eager to join the Global ESG 🌱 Solutions Marketplace & Community with their bespoke solution, each helping to accelerate one or even several of the #17UNSDG.   Be positive 😃 - Be part of the 🌍 Solutions 💚!

On Monday in Cali COP16 Colombia has kicked off! For the next 9 days the key theme being discussed will be #biodiversity 🌿 and what we, as a 🌎 global society, can do to help nature help itself. "A healthy planet depends on the balance and resilience of nature. It's what sustains life, supports ecosystems, and ensures the well-being of future generations 🌱." Key inclusions will be with the Indigenous communities, whose historic closeness to the land and its contained #biodiversity 🌿 as well as being true stewards of cultural & historic knowledge, can help deliver valuable insights and guidance to act on. Let's stay tuned what the next 9 days bring us in actionable value. Be positive 😃 - Be part of the 🌍 Solutions 💚!

Most all of us see the changes in the 🌏 world going on around us and would like to contribute positively to making changes for the better. However, life and other things that keep us busy seem to get in the way, and maybe even financial constraints limit our feelings and ability of how we can contribute. So, good news 📰 on that front, if your finances are suffering, you can still help “passively” to make a difference. Just a couple of examples: 1. Do you like to listen to music? Then stream by stream “makes it possible to plant trees while streaming music”. You get access to playlists and by simply enjoying music, you help planting trees 🌳🎋. 2. Do you use a search engine online to find something? Why not contribute to tree 🌳🎋 planting by using Ecosia. Simply switch your personal or company’s standard search engine to Ecosia and help reforest the planet. As a FYI, Ecosia financed the planting of over 1 million trees last month with the help of many of “YOU”! You can find the stream by stream and Ecosia Solutions also on DrivingWhatMatters4ESG (DWM4ESG) Now you know how you can help, even if you are busy and under time ⏳ or financial constraints…why not? If you know other Solutions like that, please add in the Comments. Be positive 😃 - Be part of the 🌍 Solutions 💚! #UNSDG, #SustainableSolutions, #ESGSolutions

Is #Biochar the gift 🎁 that keeps on giving?   Usable #Biochar is produced using the combination of proper biomass feedstock (failing to do so could lead to contamination issues – nasties such as heavy metals etc.) and processing conditions. The production of safe and usable #Biochar is made through pyrolysis (under controlled conditions) of biomass feedstock (such as waste from either agricultural or forestry activities). Now a few of the benefits of #Biochar can be listed as:   1. Carbon sequestration 2. Improving the fertility of soils 3. Enhancing the soil biodiversity 4. Methane emission reduction   So maybe don’t run out after reading this and fire up the barbeque and cook your backyard clippings, instead, check out a few of the solutions on DrivingWhatMatters4ESG (DWM4ESG) such as Mandulis Energy (the little photo shows its Founder, Peter BenHur Nyeko and the Founder of DWM4ESG, Dr. Stefanie Gey), betterSoil for a better world, Frontline Waste Holding, LLC, ClimateCarbon Collection or TREEO 🌱 Cooling the planet that each are in some way involved in #Biochar activities.   We know the #Biochar Experts out there will stress the importance ❗ of the methodology of #Biochar production to ensure the full benefits of biochar are realized. @Biochar Experts: Please feel free to add in the Comments more benefits 💪 or use cases!   And if YOU have a #Biochar solution, tell us about it or come on board DrivingWhatMatters4ESG.com, THE Global ESG Solutions Marketplace & Community https://lnkd.in/eYqk2HyM to spread the word!   Be positive 😃 - Be part of the 🌍 Solutions 💚!

The outcome of the United Nations Summit of the Future that concluded earlier this week is summarized in an invigorating 🌏 “Pact for the Future” 🤝 agreement - https://lnkd.in/eft3hzB2   Why is it 🙌 invigorating? There are a number of points, but mainly because of two things: 1. It contains areas and issues on which agreements were not possible for decades and, equally important, 2. it also aims to “adapt international cooperation to the realities of today and the challenges of tomorrow” as well “to ensure that international institutions can deliver in the face of a world that has changed dramatically since they were created”. A couple of statements that stand out to DrivingWhatMatters4ESG (DWM4ESG): 1. On sustainable development, climate and financing for development: “The entire Pact is designed to turbo-charge implementation of the #SustainableDevelopmentGoals.” 2. Overall: “We cannot create a future fit for our grandchildren with a system built by our grandparents.” (António Guterres, the UN Secretary-General) As we continue to work to highlight Solutions that help accelerating one or several of the 17 #UNSDG, this Pact resonates strongly at #DWM4ESG. We look forward to the advancement of its implementation to help strengthen needed Actions for a prosperous future for People & Planet – together we can! The adoption of a major new international agreement at the Summit of the Future, which concluded Monday at the United Nations, is an important step forward in strengthening global cooperation. The Pact for the Future will help countries work more closely together as they seek to address some of the biggest challenges facing humanity and #OurCommonFuture. We have unlocked the door,” said UN Secretary-General António Guterres, urging: “Now it is our common responsibility to walk through it.” https://bit.ly/SotF2024
