🎥 Yesterday, the EU Delegation and the Canadian Embassy joined forces for an event at the Gymnasium Kirchenfeld in Bern as part of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign.   We screened the powerful documentary Backlash: Misogyny in the Digital Age directed by Léa Clermont-Dion and Guylaine Maroist , which sheds light on the urgent issue of cyberviolence.   🟠 After the screening, students engaged in a thoughtful discussion, reflecting on the documentary's message and exploring ways to combat gender-based violence, both online and offline.   #OrangeTheWorld #16DaysOfActivism #GenderEquality #BacklashFilm #Youth

Global climate action takes a step forward at #COP29! 🌍 In Baku, the EU helped secure significant achievements, including:  ✔️ A new climate finance target of $300 billion per year by 2035, with a broader base of contributors.  ✔️ Finalising rules for carbon markets under Article 6 to ensure transparency and environmental integrity.  ✔️ Announcing a 1.5°C-aligned Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) for next year, setting an ambitious example for others to follow.  ✔️ Launching a Methane Abatement Partnership Roadmap and driving progress on gender equality in climate action. The EU also unveiled its first-ever Biennial Transparency Report, underscoring its leadership in accountability and climate progress. 🌍 The final negotiations for the Global #PlasticsTreaty have officially started today in Busan, South Korea, and will run until December 1st! 🇪🇺 The EU is committed to securing a comprehensive, legally binding agreement to tackle global plastic pollution, with a focus on: 👉 Reduction in harmful plastic production and waste 👉 Bans on hazardous chemicals, including microplastics and problematic single-use plastics 👉 Strengthening circular economy measures like extended producer responsibility and improved waste management 👉 Holding major plastic producers accountable This is a crucial step toward protecting the environment and human health.
