    How to become a more Regenerative Business - Part 1 If you follow our social media channels, you might have noticed that we post quite a bit about Sustainability and Regenerative Leadership. This month, we’d like to tell you more about what we do at GAIA Insights, to live up to the principles we whole-heartedly believe in. In our upcoming posts, we are going to address different aspects, like energy consumption, waste management and circular economy, yet we are going to begin with where everything starts: - Raising Awareness (and with that we mean our own awareness before we can raise anybody else’s!) - When we embarked on this journey as an organization, we put measures in place to ensure consistency over time, so everyone understands how serious we are about it. For example, we put “Priority Planet” on our team call agenda as a recurring item and opened a “Priority Planet” Yammer community. Both are used to share resources and insights to offer team members the opportunity to make more responsible (consumer) choices in favor of an environmentally friendly lifestyle. - We also keep educating ourselves by reading specialist literature, connecting with experts, attending (virtual) courses and events. Purposeful networking is a powerful way to engage with the topic, broaden our horizon and to learn how we can adopt more eco-friendly behaviors, both as individuals and as an organization. Following subject matter influencers is another way we continue to raise our awareness. - Last but not least, we consistently draw our attention to our brand pillars People, Planet, and Purpose. Not only in our imagery and brand design, in our newsletter and external communication, but also internally by regularly discussing how we live up to our brand, its intention and to what we stand for. While this may sound fluffy and intangible, it becomes very real and concrete when you debate the use of give-aways and how to prioritize aesthetics, price and recyclability! Hopefully these examples demonstrate that it doesn’t matter if you are a small firm, if you have budget, resources or not.   • What does it take to be a refugee? We realize this is s sensitive topic, especially in the current political environment. Yet, refugees are not a recent news phenomenon. Let’s not numb ourselves but pay attention, for example by listening to their stories and by fighting the prejudice against immigrants and refugees. In this eye-opening 9-min. TEDx Talk, Muhaddisa Sarwari shares her story of navigating a better life with resilience and hope. At the time of recording, Muhaddisa was a 17-year-old student who arrived in Canada as a Hazara refugee from Afghanistan less than three years ago. Before that, Muhaddisa and her family lived as stateless refugees in Indonesia, where they spent five years in limbo. At ten years old, Muhaddisa discovered that she had no legal rights to obtain education as a refugee in Indonesia. Having to overcome the obstacles stacked against her education and the harsh living situation for refugees in Indonesia, Muhaddisa utilized her ongoing struggles as a fuel for growth.     March 3rd is World Wildlife Day. Wild animals and plants, from the highland steppes to the coral reefs, are intrinsic to the intricate web of life on Earth. They sustain ecosystems, regulate natural processes, and support biodiversity, providing essential services that underpin human livelihoods. Forests alone house 60,000 tree species, 80 per cent of amphibian species, and 75 per cent of bird species, while supporting over 1.6 billion people with natural capital in the form of food, medicine, and income. With over 1 million species estimated to be threatened with extinction, and facing the intensifying triple planetary crisis, innovative finance for wildlife conservation is more urgent than ever. More than half of the world’s GDP is dependent on nature, making biodiversity loss a significant threat to financial stability. For example, fisheries contribute over 10 per cent of GDP in some countries, yet over one-third of marine fish stocks are overfished, leading to unemployment, disrupted economies, and illegal harvesting practices. World Wildlife Day 2025 will serve as a platform for exchange and exploration of innovative financial solutions for wildlife conservation. It will showcase financial innovations, the challenges faced by civil society, governments, organizations, and the private sector, and the collaborative approaches needed to ensure sustainable funding for biodiversity.
