Blasting is NOT our business, but we can do protection from debris and shrapnel. Our mesh TECCO® G65/4 was wrapped around the supports, which were blasted. More about the protection https://lnkd.in/e9eUgvsE Thank you, Hagedorn Unternehmensgruppe, for your confidence in our mesh and the video! Thank you for showcasing our mesh at the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology! The mesh is used at the DroneHub, where flying robots capable of inspecting and repairing building envelopes, interacting with natural ecosystems, and monitoring climate change and biodiversity are being developed and tested. If your flying objects are larger: We are experienced with flying objects of other dimensions. #HelicopterTesting #ExplosionProtection #BlastProtection Ivo Naef
🪩Grand opening of #DroneHub, the newest unit and research facility in the NEST building at Empa. DroneHub is where the future of #sustainabilityrobotics takes place: ✅Aerial Additive Manufacturing: a wall with interchangeable surface elements, enabling drones to perform repair tasks via 3D printing on diverse materials ✅Biosphere for environmental sensing: robots operate autonomously, employing biodegradable materials for testing novel robotic platforms ✅An immune system for the built and natural environment: modular components on the facade enable new innovations in the collaboration between robots, buildings, and humans By fostering a space where robots are tested in tandem with dynamic ecosystems and infrastructure, the DroneHub transforms how we understand sustainable, autonomous technology and its applications in mitigating pressing environmental crises. 🤝We are also happy to officially extend the partnership between Empa and Imperial College London as a testament to the importance of research collaborations. Many thanks to everyone involved! 🔗News release: https://lnkd.in/e5RvqUQc 🔗DroneHub: https://lnkd.in/gyDQgU5V Partners: Imperial College London EPFL Geobrugg ROK, Rippmann Oesterle Knauss GmbH Architectural photos: ROK, Rippmann Oesterle Knauss GmbH Event photos: Marion Nitsch Tanja Zimmermann Peter Richner Mirko Kovac Julie McCann Basil Brühlmann Markus Schaefer Jonathan Cohen Nejra van Zalk Philipp Eder Stefan Müller Patrick Meier, PhD Enrico Marchesi Reto Largo Christoph Stapfer Annina Schneider Nora Zuber ZHdK Zürcher Hochschule der Künste Stadt Zürich Switzerland Innovation Park Central Swisscom Broadcast maxon Robocap

This is a fine example of how our MINAX mesh effectively protects the track. Congratulations to ALSACIENNE DE MINAGE ET DEMOLITION and NGE FONDATIONS teams.

This Geobrugg #DebrisFlowBarrier has already proven itself twice! It had an impact, was cleared and is now withstanding a second event. With increasing droughts, wildfires and extreme rainfall, #naturalhazards like these are becoming common, making reliable protection systems like these more important than ever. 🌍💪 Thank you to KANE GeoTech, Inc. for your trust and the years of great collaboration. We’re excited to see more remarkable case studies like this one! #Geohazards #DebrisFlowProtection #MudslideBarrier #FloodPrevention #DebrisFlow #FlashFlood #Hillslide #geotechnical
Designed by KANE GeoTech and installed by Access Limited in 2014 as post-wildfire protection for a small New Mexico community downstream. One barrier was filled in 2015 and cleaned out. All the barriers were impacted in the fall of 2024 in a major debris flow event. So much for the Rule-of-Thumb that the debris hazard goes to zero five years after a wildfire! The barriers are Geobrugg UX and VX debris flow barriers and designed using DEBFLOW software. #geotechnicalengineering, #geotech, #geohazards, #rockfallprotection

Welcome back to #FacesOfGeobrugg! In today’s episode, Juan-Louis De Beer will share a bit about his background, role, and what makes his work both challenging and rewarding. Want to meet more of our team? You can find the complete interview and catch up on past episodes here: https://rb.gy/0vnq3w. Hi, I am Juan-Louis de Beer. I am a technical manager for geohazard solutions in Geobrugg Southern Africa. I’m also commercially responsible for Namibia and Botswana, but on the technical side, I cover all of Africa. **How has it been working at Geobrugg? Has it matched your expectations? Absolutely. I knew about Geobrugg before joining and thought it looked like a solid, well-organized company. After three years, I can say it’s exceeded my expectations. The team here is fantastic; everyone’s supportive, and our systems are high-quality, making my job easier. **What do you enjoy most about your job? The best part is that it’s never monotonous. I might be designing a new solution, troubleshooting on-site, or navigating a completely new challenge. The problems we face can be unique to each project, but it’s rewarding to see our work protect lives and infrastructure; it gives meaning to what I do every day. **Can you tell us about a project that stands out to you? One of my most interesting projects is currently underway in Namibia, where we’re installing nearly one km of rockfall barriers. These are 5,000 KJ barriers, each 9 meters tall – among the largest we install. **Africa is a vast and diverse continent, rich in cultures, languages, and ways of doing business. How do you navigate these cultural and language differences when meeting new clients? Every country brings its own unique set of cultural expectations. Some clients appreciate formal meetings, while others prefer a more casual approach. I do my research beforehand, but meeting face-to-face is key. Body language says a lot, especially when there are language barriers. We mostly communicate in English, though it’s not perfect English. My own English has an Afrikaans influence, but I must say these cultural exchanges are enriching. **Do you have any favorite South African traditions? Definitely the “braai” – it’s our version of a BBQ, but it’s more than just cooking food; it’s a cultural event. We’ll light a fire every Sunday, invite friends and family, and cook meat over the flames. It’s a social tradition – good food, good company, maybe a rugby game on TV. **Is there any fun fact about yourself? I’m really into endurance running. I usually cover up to 100 km a week. Running clears my mind and gives me time to think things through. I also love spending time outdoors with my dogs, especially at Paarl Rock in the Western Cape, where I feel connected to nature. **Thank you, Juan, we’ve learned so much about your role and the vibrant culture of your country! #GeohazardSolutions #RockfallProtection #GlobalTeam #CulturalDiversity

The house above the Monte Brè Funicular (Southern Switzerland) had to be demolished. To ensure the safe operation of this touristic infrastructure a temporary protection with a Geobrugg GBE-500A-R Rockfall Barrier, was installed.
#pericolinaturali #safetyprotection
