It was a real honour for me to introduce Tulip Siddiq, Economic Secretary to the Treasury and City Minister at today's City & Financial Global #Tokenisation Summit. The Minister spoke about the focus the new UK government has on growing and enhancing the competitiveness of the UK’s world-leading financial services sector, and how important innovative finance and technology will be in achieving that. Tulip also stressed the importance of working with both traditional financial companies and Web 3 companies. Sasha Mills from the Bank of England followed, and spoke about how the UK's Digital Securities Sandbox will help improve Tokenisation. These were two optimistic speeches today and very encouraging for the UK. Importantly, this conference didn't just focus on the UK though but also had a real global perspective and we heard from Commissioner Caroline D. Pham, U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission, Richard Knox, HM Treasury, Holger Neuhaus, European Central Bank Chee Hao Lam Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) and Camille Blackburn Financial Conduct Authority. Thank you to all for sharing your thoughts, plans and vision for the future! 👏 Such an incredible line up of speakers, and so many of our members and partners presenting on and exploring the prospects, benefits and challenges of Tokenisation. 📢 As COP29 comes to a close, Global Blockchain Business Council (GBBC)'s InterWork Alliance (IWA) has released a set of infographics covering: carbon markets; digital measurement, reporting, and verification (dMRV); and the IWA’s dMRV Framework. With these infographics, we aim to provide educational materials for those who are newer to the carbon markets and dMRV space, providing key terms, entities, and information on how carbon credits are originated. From initial responses to the IWA’s dMRV Survey, and from feedback received more broadly, we understand that educational materials in this area are much desired. These infographics are the first part of a larger effort of educational content that the IWA’s Voluntary Carbon Markets Working Group will be continuing to produce to help bring clarity and accessibility to carbon markets and the IWA’s dMRV Framework.
