🚀 Yesterday was an incredible journey through #innovation and #collaboration. The day began with inspiring presentations and pitches from our Kickstart scaleups at Innovaud in Lausanne. We then explored cutting-edge innovation during visits to Romande Energie and the Rolex Learning center - Epfl. The afternoon brought us to the #InnovationDay at die Mobiliar, where we dived into #AI’s transformative role in #insurance and connected through impactful networking opportunities. 🚀 ✨ The evening was the perfect culmination, as we welcomed over 70 startup founders, regional investors, local government representatives, and corporate changemakers to Kickstart’s #ExecutiveDinnerRomandie at La Mobilière’s headquarters in Ville de Nyon. The night kicked off with a warm welcome from Katka Letzing, CEO & Co-Founder of #ickstartInnovation, followed by inspiring words from Aline Brügger, Head of Private Provision at La Mobilière. A highlight of the night was the fireside chat on sustainable investments and the transformative power of collaboration. We were fortunate to have Patrick Barbey, CEO of #Innovaud, Felix Stähli, Co-Founder of Impact Hub Lausanne and Geneva, and Iohannès Bry, Head of Innovation at Ville de Lausanne share their insights, setting the tone for a night of meaningful conversations and visionary thinking. 🌍 🎤 Of course, it wouldn’t be a Kickstart event without rapid-fire pitches! Kudos to members of our 2024 cohort participating last night - AllyWell, B'ZEOS,Billogram, Enterprise Bot , HAPSTER, hypt, Interloom, irmos technologies AG, Lixea, Moodtalk, Nature Coatings, NEUR.ON, Over Easy Solar, ProSeed, Shayp, Silatha, Solskin by Zurich Soft Robotics, Thryve, Watchibia , Wequity—for distilling their innovative visions into a challenging brilliant single impactful sentence! 🤝 This wasn’t a typical networking event. Empowering the Next Generation of Entrepreneurs at Nationaler Zukunftstag 2024 🚀 Two weeks ago, we had the absolute pleasure of hosting 20 bright, curious young humans at Impact Hub Zürich for a one-of-a-kind workshop on how to start a company. 🎉 Through our interactive game, these budding entrepreneurs explored the fundamentals of building a business: designing products, crafting marketing strategies, defining roles, and even tackling budget needs. Over five rounds, they turned their ideas into well-rounded company concepts, which they confidently pitched to a room full of parents at Community Salon, Café Auer & Co. 💡👏 Their creativity left us absolutely amazed! Here are some of the fantastic ideas they came up with: ✨ Work smart, not hard: A cozy coworking café with childcare and delicious snacks ✨ A home for the homeless: A residence with a job-reintegration program for those in need ✨ Music for all: A store combining instrument sales with music lessons and special offers ✨ Pet vacation hotel: Where pets can enjoy their own holidays alongside other furry friends ✨ Fresh and healing skincare: Sustainable, microplastic-free products designed to truly care for your skin We are also so thankful to the four incredible founders Jordan Kouto, Simon Widmer, Martina Kolpondinos, PhD and Marie Henze who joined us to share their personal entrepreneurial journeys, inspiring the young participants and sparking endless questions in their minds. It was heartwarming to witness this interaction! 🙏 And of course the day wouldn't have been as perfect without our Chief Spaghetti Officer... 🌅 This morning, we had the pleasure of hosting a truly inspiring Storytelling Breakfast with Patagonia and BirdLife Schweiz / Suisse / Svizzera! 🐦 We kicked off the day with the heartwarming movie "The Last Observers", presented by Patagonia, which tells the incredible story of a Swedish couple who dedicated their lives to birds and nature. It was a beautiful reminder of the importance of protecting our natural world. 🌍 Following the screening, we were joined by an amazing panel of experts for an engaging discussion on the power of volunteering and the crucial role of collaboration in protecting wildlife. Our panelists, including Lucas Lombardo from BirdLife Switzerland, Adriana Puente Montes from WWF Switzerland, and Sophie H. from Salesforce who is also a passionate BirdLife corporate volunteer, shared their inspiring stories and experiences. The conversation, expertly moderated by Lara Mogge, sparked insightful discussions about the challenges and rewards of working with and as a volunteer to make a difference in environmental conservation. 🌿 A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and contributed to such a meaningful conversation! 🙏 We were thrilled to see so many people connecting with the cause and with each other. ❗Missed it? A bunch of school kids co-creating their business ideas over one afternoon? Pretty cool results! 🤩 Last Thursday, my older son had the opportunity to participate in the Zukunftstag-Programm at Impact Hub Zürich (I was almost more excited about showing him a piece of my work than he was 😂) The very cool ideas the kids came up with: 1️⃣ Work smart, not hard: a cafe to work from with snacks and comfy spaces, and childcare 2️⃣ A home for the homeless: a place to live for those who fell through the cracks with a job-reintegration program 3️⃣ A music store with classes to learn any instrument: buy and learn in one; plus special offers all around 4️⃣ A pet vacation hotel: no more furry friend OR fun vacation, but a place for pets to go on a vacation and have a good time with fellow pets, too 5️⃣ Skin-care that is fresh, sustainable, and healing in one: away with micro-plastics and poisonous so-called care products The kids learned business basics, about roles and activities in a startup, and the challenges involved. And I think they did a great job smartly addressing a few. Thanks dear Impact Hub Zürich team for this day of learning and inspiration! Last week, we celebrated our first Innovation & Impact with over 100 amazing CDR enthusiasts 🎉 💹 Hans Westerhof from remove provided us with a detailed exploration of how CDR uniquely differs from other B2B industries—highlighting challenges such as the lack of a clear value proposition, the difficulty of scaling sales, and the absence of direct necessity for clients, along with its implications for market dynamics and business models. 👩🌾 Thomas Käslin from Cotierra shared his journey from finance to founding a CDR startup, providing key insights on the importance of “dating” to find the right partners and embracing the continuous learning process. He highlighted biochar’s potential for climate resilience and its co-benefits for farmers, alongside practical advice on winning over investors. 🚀To cap off their Booster journey, the teams from our first cohort presented their projects, showcasing impressive progress over the past six months. It was truly inspiring to see how much they’ve developed in such a short time!  👏Meanwhile, our newest cohort gave us a sneak peek into the ideas they’ll pursue over the next six months.
