It's time to reflect on the success of the inaugural Saudi-Swiss Fintech Forum! Four members of our team - Avinash, Dr. Erhan Ermis, Akın and Güneş - were in Riyadh for this trailblazing event after months of hard work from our team behind the scenes. Cross-functional collaborations and ambitious, innovative partnerships are what Hyphen always looks to facilitate. This forum exemplified that spirit by bringing key players from two leading countries together to create new synergies and look for new opportunities. What has happened to the site of the Berlin Wall since its demise 35 years ago? Permanent reminders remain, such as the East Side Gallery and the street stones marking its course. But did you know there is also a 100-mile cycling and walking route where once the controversial structure stood? With most of our team now heading home from Berlin after our final co-working retreat of 2024, this #weekendread looks at how the site of a symbol of division and oppression has in its own way become a site for community and openness in and around the German capital.

At Hyphen, we’re thrilled to see our team contributing to such impactful initiatives! The Saudi-Swiss Fintech Forum in Riyadh is a fantastic platform for fostering collaboration, innovation, and growth in the fintech sector. We’re proud to support efforts that bridge knowledge and talent across borders, particularly in such dynamic markets. Congratulations Akin on leading the investor panel and sharing valuable insights—looking forward to seeing the opportunities this collaboration will unlock!
What a wonderful and insightful start to the first-ever Saudi-Swiss Fintech Forum in Riyadh! Fintech is a sector in which we at Hyphen have taken a great interest, and we believe plenty of opportunities are waiting to be capitalized upon. I was privileged to lead the investor panel, which was an exciting experience, and I am glad to have been able to share insights that I have picked up from my work with those operating in this sector. Thank you once again to Emad Kashgari, Waleed A. Alballaa, Chris Rynning and Andreas Iten Our discussion made it clear that there is a strong interest and need to increase collaboration between Swiss and KSA entities on knowledge and talent transfer. I am looking forward to seeing the next steps and journey from here...

We are proud to support the upcoming Saudi-Swiss Fintech Forum, a groundbreaking event that will help stakeholders unearth and capitalise upon new opportunities. The momentous occasion brings together two countries with which we have extremely close links so we are excited to play any role we can in the creation of new partnerships. We have been working alongside the Swiss Embassy to make this event happen, utilising our Swiss roots and strong understanding of the Saudi Arabian marketplace. It has been great working with Switzerland Global Enterprise, Swiss Business Hub Middle East, Embassy of Switzerland in Saudi Arabia, Fintech Saudi | فنتك السعودية and FIND on the development of this event, and thank you to Riyad Bank, 1957 Ventures and UBS for sponsoring. Our team expects this event to be a huge success that can provide significant long-term benefits for all guests. The Saudi-Swiss Fintech Forum will provide a platform for dialogue on key topics shaping the financial sector, enable stakeholders to capitalise on various national strengths, and develop economic synergies. Our team look forward to meeting other attendees in Riyadh on Sunday and Monday and exploring opportunities for collaboration. #Fintech #SaudiArabia #Switzerland #Collaboration #Partnerships

Is less really more when it comes what we keep in our homes, or is there actually space for stuff? Explore the hidden side of domestic life in Japan, which is captured by Kyoichi Tsuzuki in his series, ‘Tokyo Style’. In it, he captured cluttered homes that defied the world’s obsession with Japanese minimalism. Instead of carefully curated simplicity, Tsuzuki’s photos reveal a different reality—spaces filled with personality, history, and everyday chaos. This piece is a fascinating reflection on how Japan’s culture of meaningful and deliberate clutter coexists with its minimalist ideals, challenging our assumptions about order and creativity. Read more in our new #weekendread!
