For those days when I feel the tingles or the throbs of shame for thinking "too big"; for those moments when someone says something really hurtful about the way I express the complex perspectives I hold; for the relationships in which the gifted parts of me feel disregarded, or I feel compelled to make them invisible to others by hiding behind a mask. For all the moments in my past when I thought I wasn't good enough, "too weird", too different, too something. For all those times I questioned my inherent worth. Not everyone will like all parts of me all the time. I won't like all parts of myself all the time. But I still deserve to be me, quirks and all. I'll keep developing and growing, and if I remember that I am valuable in all of my uniqueness, the light of my being will shine brighter and brighter. 💛

“In the shared space, we also see how one dream reflecting what is unlived and missing for wholeness speaks to many lives. The insight of your dream might name something I’ve long sensed but couldn’t articulate about my gifted experience. A call to action in my dream might be the spark you need for moving forward in an aspect of your own life. And yet another’s dream might offer a healing embodied experience that helps us step into a deeper knowing of our giftedness. The practice of communal dreaming engenders an alchemical process of gifted integration, healing and re-membering: We re-member aspects of our gifted wholeness—embodied, imaginal and intuitive knowings—that have been repressed by the dominance of rational thought. We re-member that transformation—both personal and collective—is a spiral process that unfolds in its own timing, and that we are asked to linger, listen and trust. We re-member that we do not have to hold the currents of our gifted unfolding alone. And, we re-member that we are believing mirrors for one another and conduits for the unlived life necessary for our becoming.” 🔍 Read the full post at the Dancing at the Edge Substack, with Kelly Pryde, PhD of our Gifted Mindfulness Collective: https://lnkd.in/dQEXcgej ... If you’re interested in building mindful believing mirrors and exploring the wisdom of dreams in gifted community, please join us at our upcoming Dream Salon this Saturday, January 25th. 👋 go to https://lnkd.in/dJ8DjMRk to register

Intelligence is more than just logic and more than just a human trait! All living beings inhabit their own unique version of intelligence. Gifted humans have highly complex intelligence in one or more areas. Intellectually gifted people have highly complex intelligence in the area of the intellect, which is what the term "gifted" without a qualifier (such as "musically gifted" or "gifted at sports"), usually refers to. Other areas that we work with, as described in Jennifer Harvey Sallin's model of giftedness, are emotional giftedness, creative giftedness, physical giftedness, sensual giftedness and existential giftedness. Keep in mind, this model was created specifically for gifted adult self-development. It helps us to map out our areas of greater and lesser complexity, and to understand how our unique "complexity map" guides us in navigating our inner individual experience as well as our outer interconnected social experience toward wholeness, thriving and shared joy. 🔎 Learn more about this model of giftedness: https://lnkd.in/dwwZEXE 🗺️ Map out your giftedness profile with us: https://lnkd.in/dCHPTis 👋 Join our gifted community: https://lnkd.in/eR8h_PSj #giftedness #giftedpsychology #intelligence #giftedadults #gifted

A good reminder when we're pressuring ourselves to understand all the complexities in times of crisis; when we want to help others and right injustices in ways that require much more than complex intellectualizing; when we feel overwhelmed by the way things are, the suffering we see out there or feel in here, but can't mind-control the world or our own feelings to be other than they are right now. Being gifted doesn't mean being omniscient or having control over the ways of the world. It doesn't mean understanding what the solutions to all the problems are. It means being aware of a lot all the time, seeing complex connections between things, understanding broad cause and effect chains... but not necessarily knowing how to fix everything that causes pain. Our hearts go out to those in the LA fires, the natural disasters around the world, the wars and all the various events that are causing many of us distress at this time. May we use our gifted minds to bring complex comfort, compassion, community, humanity and care to everyone suffering, including ourselves 🩶

Psychological support that works knowledgably and skillfully with the particularities of our gifted mind and gifted traits is so important! "Having sought help from a PsyD during an existential crisis, I know full well the limitations of psychotherapy as it relates to the gifted mind. Traditional approaches that may quiet a mind with fewer complexities were physically painful to me and even grew my dark shadow in many instances. My experience is not uncommon, which is why Jen’s Gifted Psychology 101 provides an invaluable service to the gifted community. Her unique background of having experienced the gifted struggles, along with a background in psychology, allows her to bridge the gap that can be ever-present in traditional therapeutic modalities. If you seek to help those in the gifted community, for which I laud you, Gifted Psychology 101 is essential for your toolbox. Not only for the insightful learning but for the stimulating interactions that will take place with Jen and your colleagues." These are the words of one of the psychologists who trained with us in our Gifted Psychology 101 course for psychologists, with Jennifer Harvey Sallin. 🎯 Our next cohort starts in March 2025, and registration is now open! Have a look at our course page for more details and to apply to join us: https://lnkd.in/enntmA3D ___ #giftedness #gifted #giftedpsychology #giftedadults #giftedtherapy #psychologytraining

Why do some gifted people seem so respectful and collaborative, and others seem so closed-minded and arrogant? Why are so many of us a complicated mix of intellectual arrogance and humility, attachment and openness? This image from Fearless Culture helps us intuit the answers to these questions and highlights why gifted self-development and healing are so important. It gives us a sense of how we can start to soften and rebalance using our gifts with intellectual humility and in the spirit of true connection. ☯️ How do you cultivate intellectual humility in your life? ___ #gifted #giftedpsychology #giftedness #giftedadults #intelligence #highintelligence
