💡 Bridge CRPD-SDGs is more than training - it’s a movement. The Bridge CRPD-SDGs ASEAN training kicked off today in Bangkok, Thailand, bringing together diverse OPD representatives from across the region! Hosted by the IDA, IDDC, and the ASEAN Disability Forum, with support from the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, the opening session included remarks from: 💬 Lim Puay Tiak, ASEAN Disability Forum, reflecting on how this training has been ten years in the making, since the pilot launched in Bangkok in 2015. 💬 Jarrod Clyne, Deputy Executive Director, IDA, emphasizing that highlighting that Bridge is a cornerstone of the OPD movement “built by OPDs, for OPDs”. 🌟 A special moment in this training: Amba Salelkar, a Bridge alumnus from 2015-16, now leads the program as the Senior Manager, Programs and Impact at IDA. She joins Abner Manaplaz, co-facilitator of the pilot training, in guiding this new cohort - a testament to how Bridge CRPD-SDGs initiative nurtures future trainers and OPD leaders.

🙌 This is what collective leadership looks like: ensuring that every voice matters in shaping a stronger and more accountable IDA for the future. Over these critical days, the Articles of Association are being discussed line by line, in a deeply consultative and inclusive process. Perspectives from organisations in the Global South, the lived experiences of underrepresented groups, and essential gender dimensions are at the heart of these deliberations. The General Assembly is unanimous in its commitment to gender equality in representation, recognising it as essential for inclusive leadership. With a reach spanning 182 countries, IDA continues to break barriers and foster inclusion for persons with disabilities worldwide. 🔗 Follow along as we navigate this important moment for the disability rights movement.
