The traditional #craft of felt making has developed in #Nepal over the centuries. Felt was used to make everyday objects such as carpets, clothing, and blankets and played an important role in Nepalese society's economic life. Today, old traditions of felt-making are mixed with new techniques. Women are the backbone of the Nepalese felt industry. Their success stories testify to the industry's transformative power, which is making an essential contribution to gender equality and the economic empowerment of women in Nepal. 🎄 Our felt figures are made in a small craft workshop in the foothills of the Himalayas by skilled women artisans. Every detail is lovingly crafted by hand. The felt figures contribute to the financial independence of their makers in an area with few jobs.

Two weeks ago, we had the privilege to host the young haut-couturière Larissa von Planta at INTWINE. She shared with us the story of ODE, her social-enterprise that is elevating and transforming existing garments and homeware with heritage Palestinian embroidery. We were very excited about the many people joining us for the event. Thank you all for coming! 🙏 Despite the devestating news of recent airstrikes hitting near the homes of the ODE artisans in #Beirut, the team is still gathering to embroider, using their craft to find stability in the chaos. It’s powerful to witness their resilience. Please support the women artisans and provide dignified, creative work. Bring by one of your beloved garments, like a blouse, cashmere sweater, blazer, or jacket. The artisans will turn it into an eye-catching new favorite with a rich embroidery from the Levante region. Drop-off is at INTWINE (Hegibachstrasse 42 in Zurich). Please remember deadline is October 12, 2024, to ensure your garment is back in time for Christmas.

We are thrilled to host Sustainable Haute-Couturier and Founder of LVPx Larissa von Planta at INTWINE on September 17. The London-based designer will come to INTWINE to present her fantastic initiative LVPx, which empowers women artisans in #Beirut. Larissa started her couture atelier in Beirut in 2018. The atelier focuses on refined upcycling, combining sustainable design and couture techniques with renowned artisans and makers. Her social business, LVPx, has helped transform over 600 clothes and worked with companies from Hong Kong to Paris to transform their unsold stock so it could be resold with added value. Not only do our customers get to know other customers at our #events and are delighted by what they have in common, but we are also connecting our business partners with each other so that they can share their experiences. Because together, we are so much stronger! 💪 💪 We want to thank Marie-Pierre Moutounet for thinking of us after seeing Iryna Krykun's outstanding watercolor drawings. We are not stationary specialists, so we introduced Iryna to Emily Nash of Emily Nash Illustration. Emily helped Iryna get her watercolor drawings printed on high-quality greeting cards in England. 💌 👏👏👏 Capacity for your essential work getting refugees back into the #businssworld. A crucial part of successful integration! Caterina Meier-Pfister #successfulcollaboration #greetingcards

By putting fair and direct collaborations over high margins, we ensure that all the artisans and artists we work with can do decent work and earn a living for their families. #womenempowerment #iwd2024 #internationalwomensday
