What is the impact of technology in education for sustainability? 🌱 This is what Maria and Judith from Universidad de Salamanca are researching. With their research, they are trying to see how technology can be used to connect youth with nature and the environment 📲 💭 "When a few years ago I stopped forming part of my active scout group, at all I was going to imagine that a few years later, my work as a researcher at GIPEP l was going to take me here, to hang up the handkerchief of the GSK352 (local scout group) and remember that once a scout, always a scout." - Judith We are the leading Scout Centre in non-formal education for youth, comparing nature's teachings and technology with the Scouting values ⚜️ The programme we run may be made for Scouts and Guides, but this doesn't mean that this method works for Scouts and Guides alone. We are honoured for Maria and Judith to include the World Scout Centre in their research. New week, new Pinkies in the Wild 🌴 Last week, Pani (ES🇪🇸) and Elsa (NL🇳🇱) hopped on a plane to Rio de Janeiro, in Brazil 🇧🇷✈️!! They took part in the World Scout Foundation Baden Powell Fellowship Event. Our ex-Pinkie Gui (BR🇧🇷) was one of the MC's!! This event is held in a different country every year in October, giving an opportunity for donors to World Scouting and Scout projects to come together and network, and for the World Scout Foundation to thank them ⚜️✨ Part of the programme of the event was a service project, where the young BP Fellows cleaned up a part of the beach in the big oceanside city. During the weekend, a panel discussion was held where participants of the event were able to ask questions to the panel members 🎤 Pani was the moderator for the session, and look at him in that suit! At the end of the event, a nice, fancy dinner was hosted, where new members of the BP Fellowship, like Elsa, were welcomed and thanked with the official pin, and a handshake of His Majesty the King of Sweden 🇸🇪 👑 PS. that third photo of our director... he found a big beetle. Do you have the same connection with nature as us? During the 2024 edition of Jota Joti, Scouts and Guides from around the world came together to learn about sustainability and each other's cultures. Yearly, roughly 660'000 participants join the online event 🗺️ 📻 This year, the theme of the event was called 'Scouts for a Greener World', outlining the importance of the environment and the impact Scouts have on society when it comes to climate action ⛰️ 🚀 ⚜️ As the World Scout Centre, we find it important to educate all the Scouts and Guides around the world on this very pressuring and important topic. The Goose Network Seminar at KISC ☀️ 🦆 KISC is part of multiple networks and partnerships, one of which is the Goose Network 🌐 The network is designed and set up for collaboration and supporting other Scout Centres in Europe. We are honoured to host this year's edition of the network's seminar. Every year, managers and staff from Scout Centres all over Europe come together to learn best practices and hard skills from each other 🗺️ 💪 From managing sites to promoting your centre and the recruitment of staff. Here is a quick run through our activities so far! 🦆 Digital development 🦆 Centre branding 🦆 Volunteer Exchanges 🦆 Social Media It is thanks to events and organisations like these, that Scouting keeps evolving. We learn from each other and grow opportunities across borders for young people.
