Diese Aussage signalisiert die Entschlossenheit der politischen Entscheidungsträger, ihre Zusagen zur Energiewende einzuhalten. Dabei könnten Batteriespeicher aus upcycelten Elektroautos – wie die von Libattion – eine besondere Rolle spielen, wie Jennifer Layke vom World Resources Institute betont: „Eine sich bietende Chance für die Länder ist die Wiederverwendung von E-Auto-Batterien für Second-Life"-Anwendungen. Die Masseneinführung von Elektrofahrzeugen in den kommenden Jahren wird zu einem Anstieg der Batterieproduktion und zur Verschrottung von Fahrzeugbatterien führen. 1,650 GWh of renewable capacity is currently waiting to be connected to the grid, according to the International Energy Agency (IEA)'s Renewables 2024 report.
