Great to see the progress you have made, among other things, within the scope of the focus projects at D-MAVT. Congratulations on your achievement!
We did it! 💥 After just six months, our team at Project PERSEUS achieved the incredible goal of firing their rotating detonation rocket engine. This sets a landmark not only for ARIS and all our supporters but also for Switzerland's space sector in general. 🚀 Being the first student built RDRE in the WORLD and the first one at all in Switzerland, we are incredibly proud of our team and their success. But they are not planing to finish anytime soon; intending to have a Focusproject at ETH Zürich as well as follow-up Bachelor and Master Thesis at both ETH and OST – Eastern Switzerland University of Applied Sciences, the team is set out to push more boundaries and pave the way for others to follow. 💯 It is success stories like this, that shape the image of engineering and all the academic institutions connected to it, this is how you do it! 👨🔧 ETH Hangar Switzerland Innovation Park Zurich #ProjectPERSEUS #ARIS #RocketScience #EngineeringInnovation #innovation #engineering #RDRE #SpaceExploration #ETHZurich #eth #ETHHangar #ostschweizerfachhochschule #OSTRapperswil #FutureOfSpace #switzerland #PropulsionTechnology #space #rocket #perseus

Join tomorrow's talk "Robust laser diagnostics for testing combustion performance in gas turbine combustors" by Professor Andreas Dreizler from Technische Universität Darmstadt, hosted by Dr. Christos Frouzakis from D-MAVT. Date: Wednesday, 11 December 2024 Time: 16.15 - 17.15 Location: ETH Zurich, ML F 36 Info and contact: https://lnkd.in/eXB34Eb8 📜 Aircraft gas turbines will continue to be the main form of propulsion for air travel in the coming decades. Due to the high complexity of current developments in downsizing and the development of lean combustion concepts, the knowledge-based design of gas turbine combustors is becoming increasingly important. In the interplay between experiment, theory and numerical simulation, the aim is to understand the underlying phenomena and to simulate the processes in the combustion chamber. Crucial for this are experiments that provide insights into these combustion processes. In this context, non-intrusive measurements of the effusion cooling and the dynamic development of the turbine entry temperature distribution are presented. In addition to optically accessible combustion chambers, suitable laser-optical measurement techniques are required, which are discussed in this presentation. 🧑🎓 Prof. Andreas Dreizler has been Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the Technical University of Darmstadt, Germany, and Head of the Institute for Reactive Flows and Diagnostics since 2008. He is Director of the Research Center Turbulent, Chemically Reactive, Multiphase Flows Near Walls. His international leadership is based on the use of advanced laser diagnostics and well-designed benchmark experiments, which are used by hundreds of colleagues and companies worldwide to validate numerical simulation models and has received several personal awards, including the prestigious Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Prize (2014). Recently, he was one of four applicants to be awarded an ERC Synergy Grant on hydrogen combustion.

The robotics competition I am organizing at ETH Zurich is already coming to an end. The 10 finalists have been selected, and they are now preparing for the public competition in two weeks. If you are in Zurich and want to see the robots by yourself, then come by ETH main building on Tuesday, 17th December 2024 from 15:30 to 17:30. With this year's theme of saving Christmas by the means of an autonomous robot delivering the Christmas gifts, it is a good event to get into Christmas mood. :) Looking forward to seeing you there Department of Mechanical and Process Engineering (D-MAVT), ETH Zurich #ETHZurich #DMAVT #Innovationproject
