The situation in Lebanon is dire. The ongoing war has caused significant trauma, stress and anxiety. Many people are experiencing the loss of loved ones, homes, and their livelihoods. Our team in Lebanon is currently conducting psychological first aid sessions in collective shelters for internally displaced people seeking refuge and safety. Funded by Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and Auswärtiges Amt (Federal Foreign Office) Germany Medair’s psychosocial support volunteers are conducting psychological first aid sessions for displaced individuals to reduce their suffering and help them cope with the situation.

❗ ❗ Lebanon, already facing severe economic and political crises while hosting 1.5 million refugees, is now also struggling with over 1.2 million newly internally displaced people. Destruction of infrastructure and shortages of resources disrupt aid efforts, impacting millions. Funded by the UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency Lebanon, implemented by Medair, our team in Lebanon has distributed over 9000 blankets and mattresses to people affected by the ongoing conflict and have completed essential repairs for 8 collective shelters, improving the living conditions of families seeking refuge there. Medair is active in the Central Highlands of Afghanistan, home to isolated and marginalized communities. Through cash for food assistance, communities affected by drought, natural disasters, and entrenched poverty can have access to nutritious food items. “Having nothing to eat at home, one day I went to the local market to borrow some food. I asked every single shop to help me, but no one did. I felt my dignity was robbed as my family cried out of hunger and went to sleep starving at night. This [cash for food] support has just saved our lives. I will buy cooking oil, and grains like rice, beans and other foodstuff available in the market to feed my family.
