Baby Aisha’s story - A Simple Solution The issues faced by the world’s poorest countries are complex, but the solution for malnourished children is simple: a six-week course of special supplementary food is often all it takes to save a child's life. This Christmas, you can provide a complete course of treatment for a child suffering from malnutrition. Maryam, Aisha’s grandmother, shared her hope for her granddaughter’s recovery: “I trust these kind doctors. I feel they are like angels, and I hope my granddaughter will make a complete recovery in their hands.” 👉 https://lnkd.in/eXdxUP9V #EndMalnutrition #HopeForChildren #GlobalHealth #ChildHealth #SupportChildren #SaveTheChildren #christmas #advent #afghnistan

🌱 Wild Rhubarb: A Springtime Afghan Delight Known locally as chukri or rawash, wild rhubarb is a cherished spring treat in Afghanistan. From the mountain trails to city markets in Kabul, its tangy stalks are enjoyed raw with salt, in savory dishes, or sweetened in desserts. Packed with vitamins C, K, and minerals like calcium and potassium, rhubarb has long nourished communities, especially during challenging times. Cooking Tip: Try it in Sabzi Rawash, a flavorful mix of spinach, dill, and rhubarb—a must-try Afghan recipe! 👉 Learn more about our work in Afghanistan:https://lnkd.in/ejVZ8465 #WildRhubarb #AfghanCuisine #SpringHarvest #Chukri #ForagingDelights source: https://lnkd.in/ekwg_6WR

Baby Sami’s story - Journey to Recovery In October 2024, Sami, an eight-month-old boy from Southern Afghanistan, visited a Medair health facility for the sixth time. His story is one of hope and recovery. On his first visit, the medical team measured his upper-arm circumference using the MUAC bracelet, a simple yet effective tool to detect severe malnutrition in children. At that time, Sami weighed only 5.6 kg, showing clear signs of malnourishment. Last week, the doctor informed us, Sami weighs a healthy 7.7 kg, the normal weight for a child of his age. And, her mother Sabera can see the brightness returning to his eyes. 👉 learn more: https://lnkd.in/eMNQNUZd #ChildHealth #ChildWellness #HealthyKids #Afghanistan #HopeAndRecovery #Medair #HealthCare #Malnutrition #NutritionAwareness #advent

Malnutrition is high among children under five and pregnant and nursing mothers. Why? Because families are often unable to access health and nutrition services due to: 🔴lack of services 🔴ongoing insecurity 🔴Costs 🔴and cultural barriers. Medair runs mobile health & nutrition clinics and Basic Health Centers (BHCs) in communities affected by displacement, natural disasters and located in remote areas, to treat malnutrition and related underlying illnesses in children and mothers. 🔴We provide basic health services, such as ante- and post-natal care, safe delivery planning, and psychosocial support; 🔴We provide outpatient treatment for severe (SAM) and moderate acute (MAM) malnutrition; 🔴We provide referrals to an established and pre-determined health facility in cases with severe health complications; 🔴We promote healthy feeding practices to pregnant and breastfeeding mothers and mothers of malnourished children. Together, we’re working to ensure healthier futures for children and mothers—one community at a time. 💙 👉Learn more: https://lnkd.in/ejVZ8465 #HealthForAll #NutritionMatters #MedairCares

Hunger is as easy to understand as it is complicated to eradicate. It affects billions of people in the world. The Global Hunger Index, which comes out every year, gives an overview of world hunger, of the progress made (as well as the setbacks), and of the changes needed to reach food security for all. In November I had the pleasure and honor to give my one-day Process Excellence Energiser and one-week Lean Green Belt training to Medair partner NGOs in Amman, Jordan: Institute for Family Health/Noor Alhussein Foundation, JORDAN HASHEMITE CHARITY ORGANISATION, The Royal Health Awareness Society الجمعية الملكية للتوعية الصحية , Islamic Charitable Center Association and Be Positive Association. Five groups mapped, analyzed and identified improvements to important organizational processes. Thanks everyone for your energy and creativity in learning and applying the concepts and tools of Lean to improve how you work. I look forward to supporting you as you apply your learning and make improvements that will enable your organizations to help more people in a better way. Special thanks to Bana Maani and Rand Habashneh of IFH, who took my training earlier this year and helped with translation and coaching. #lean, #NGO, #continuousimprovement, #processimprovement, #processexcellence, #medair, #leangreenbelt, #jordan, #humanitarian, #chs
