This November for the second time MLL Legal and its Private Clients Team sponsored the “International” tennis tournament of the Private Client Forum at Villa d’Este in lake Como. The Forum is joined by the most distinguished private client lawyers from all over the world. The tournament was a great success and praised by all Forum participants – including non-players ! - and the organizers. The picture of our most famous tennis players, Maud and Serge was used as an icon for the tennis WhatsApp group organized by the Forum, what an honour😉! We are happy to announce that Jean Marguerat was a guest speaker during Module 2 of the Swiss Arbitration Academy, which took place on 16 November 2024. The Swiss Arbitration Academy offers participants the opportunity to explore issues related to arbitration from the perspectives of both counsel and arbitrators. In Module 2, Jean Marguerat and another guest speaker, Franz X. Stirnimann Fuentes, gave valuable insight on topics related to the early stages of arbitration, such as the commencement of arbitration proceedings, the constitutions of tribunals, the appointment of arbitrators, the procedural documents, the impact of the applicable arbitration rules, among others. 16 children related to our team members spent a highly interesting and exciting #Zukunftstag at our offices in #Zurich and #Geneva yesterday. They took a laptop apart, analysed the inner parts with our IT geeks and installed the IT equipment needed for a #workplace. The IP team educated them about copycats and the pupils enjoyed comparing and contrasting cookies and chocolate with and without a trademark 😊. They learnt about the different paths leading to the legal profession, negotiated and drafted a contract and role-played a theoretical legal dispute by questioning the witness and the defendant and examining the evidence. Using AI to create an image and working with our marketing team to find the ideal give-away was just as much fun as understanding how the ladies from the finance team process invoices and record financial transactions or learning about HR tasks and interview techniques. In Geneva, the young one got to know the legal profession and gained various insights from our junior associates into the career and the diverse activities of a lawyer.
