Boost Efficiency with a Second Foil Level in Multi-Foil Designs! Foil consumption is a key cost factor in hot foil embellishment. To reduce these costs, foil-saving units are typically used. For designs with one or two foils, a single saving unit is usually enough. However, for complex, multi-foil designs—like the "Lion King" ticket example—a second foil-saving level is crucial for optimal foil usage. In fact, as the "Lion King" example demonstrates, even with up to 4 foils, nearly all material is efficiently utilized. Analog X Digital: Combining technologies for efficient high-end embellishment in the short-run segment The market for regionally produced quality products is on the rise internationally. Whether craft beer, organic cosmetics or spirits, manufacturers want to package their products, which are produced in small quantities, in a correspondingly high-quality manner. The combination of digital printing and metallization and (analogue) blind embossing offers an economical production option for labels with a luxury feel in small quantities. With the objective of meeting the requirements for haptic embellishment, the tool manufacturer Hinderer + Mühlich, the design team Oliver Jung & Daniel Bretz, the foil specialist LEONHARD KURZ Stiftung & Co.KG, the printing company All4Labels - Global Packaging Group and Pantec cooperated and created a series of labels for “Kyburg Craft Beer”. Tax stamp application: traditionally rotary - why move to flat bed? Traditionally, tax stamps are applied with rotary machines. Optimizations have made it possible to produce tax stamps using the flatbed stamping process, offering great advantages over conventional rotary stamping. One of them is the high speed of up to 150 m/min and a foil utilisation of over 95%. Flatbed technology achieves excellent results on all substrates, coated and non-coated.
