32 Personen, 6 Herausforderungen und eine ganze Menge Post-its 💡 Im Rahmen unseres Engage Days haben wir uns auf die Reise nach Büli (Bülach) gemacht um dort mit der Stiftung Wisli in einem halbtägigen Design-Thinking-Workshop kreative Lösungen für zentrale Herausforderungen der Stiftung zu entwickeln. Dabei sind dank viel Inspiration, offenem Austausch und einer Menge Post-its spannende Lösungsansätze entstanden. Wir sind gespannt, welche Idee zuerst in die Umsetzung kommt. Stay tuned! Die Stiftung Wisli bietet diverse Arbeits- und Eingliederungsmethoden an und setzt sich für mehr Verständnis gegenüber Menschen mit psychischer, physischer oder sozialer Beeinträchtigung ein. Die gemeinnützige Organisation bietet eine Vielfalt an Produkten und Dienstleistungen an. 💡 Curtain up for the eight winners of the GI Goes Business Award 2024 - they enter the big stage today and tomorrow at the EUSALP Annual Forum in Slovenia. Day 1 features the Coaching Camp, where we deep-dive into business models, minimum viable products and scaling options. And we train pitching for Day 2 - the Awarding Ceremony in the EUSALP Forum plenary. We have already introduced a few (see previous posts). Today we introduce you to "BORKY": 🌿 The forests in the Alpine region are in danger. Damage is increasing due to changing climatic conditions. This applies in particular to damage caused by bark beetles to spruce trees. Mitigating the damage is often a race against time. From the moment a tree is infested, it must be found, felled and removed within four weeks to prevent further infestation. The state of the art in combating bark beetle damage is a pheromone slit trap in which bark beetles are caught and counted weekly. This is a time-consuming activity, especially in alpine regions. Thanks to an add-on developed by BORKY, an existing pheromone slot trap can be upgraded and the weekly monitoring trips can be omitted due to the new type of data transmission. This frees up more time for control measures and reduces damage. With their patented (pending) hardware solution, it is possible for the first time to obtain data on bark beetle activity in near real time. Today we’re introducing another team of the GI Goes Business Award – Ingenieurbüro Dr. Kolb and ARIS Systeme GmbH with Pocket Parks:   Pocket parks actively contribute to climate protection in cities by being integrated into urban water management. With special soil modules that absorb and store large quantities of water, they capture rainwater and make it available during dry periods. This reduces flooding and optimises the irrigation of plants, while at the same time requiring less drinking water.   In addition, these surfaces filter pollutants such as microplastics and heavy metals from the water, slow down water runoff and thus protect the urban infrastructure during heavy rainfall. 🌿💧   « GI goes Business Coaching challenges us to reflect on how we can transform a topic-oriented research project between Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences and ARIS Syteme GmbH into a market-oriented product as quickly as possible. Today we’re introducing another Team of the GI Goes Business Award – EauRoot: According to EauRoot, irrigation systems known as "drip irrigation" do not offer a modern solution to the problem of water scarcity and energy consumption. As they mostly irrigate at the soil surface, millions of litres of water are lost annually through evaporation, weed growth, etc. That is why Taghi Amani has developed its own system: The EauRoot patent-pending irrigation system stores the water in capsules that are embedded in the ground next to the trees. The capsules are connected to each other and are filled centrally via a main water tap. The system then distributes the water (in bulk and at once) automatically and efficiently to the roots of the trees without the need for external energy sources. The irrigation process is thus fully automated and energy-saving. Today we’re introducing HydroMontania – one of the winning Teams of the GI Goes Business Award 2024:   Global warming and fluctuations in precipitation are also an increasing challenge in mountain regions. Changes in the accessibility and quantity of water resources are leading to increased conflicts of use and restrictions.   HydroMontania helps to counteract these problems. It provides online model-based soil saturation data and water demand forecasts for individual plots or entire catchment areas, thus enabling targeted and resource-saving irrigation in mountains. With remote-controlled valves, the time required is reduced to a minimum.
