[Press Release] - #LatinAmerica plays a vital role in the EU's #agricultural imports, supplying key commodities like coffee, cocoa, and #soy. In 2023 alone, Brazil's #coffee exports to Europe amounted to $7.35 billion, Colombia's exports reached $2.9 billion, and Peru sent $102.12 million worth of premium #cocoa beans to the EU (Trading Economics, 2024). However, the region faces a critical challenge: Latin America is responsible for 44% of global tropical #deforestation— heightening the urgency for supply chains to meet deforestation-free standards to maintain EU market access (Forest Trends, 2021). 🌍 Although the European Union Deforestation Regulation (#EUDR) deadlines have been extended to 2025 for large companies and 2026 for SMEs, businesses in Latin America—especially cooperatives and SMEs—must take swift action to comply with these stringent standards. The extra time provides an opportunity, but it is essential to act strategically and proactively to avoid future obstacles. Deep dive into our recent #PressRelease to learn more about: 🔍The unique challenges facing Latin American businesses to comply with EUDR 📊 The importance of tailored solutions for compliance ✅ How we can support Latin American businesses on their compliance journey 💻 Get on-demand access to our webinar, BeyondTraceability Talk "Steering Latin America's Businesses Toward EUDR Compliance" Link to Press Release: https://lnkd.in/gWVKeG3e

🌴 Driving Sustainable Palm Oil in Sumatra with Forum Sustainable Palm Oil (FONAP)! Alongside Yayasan Fortasbi Indonesia, we successfully drove the impact of FONAP’s second-phase project in Sumatra, Indonesia. We aimed to support #FONAP members in achieving their commitment to 100% sustainable #palmoil production, foster transparency in their #supplychains, and engage in dialogue with suppliers to ensure traceability and implement strict sustainability standards. By utilizing our #traceability platform, #KoltiTraceMIS—fully compliant with #GDPR—we enhanced monitoring and traceability by capturing GPS data from smallholder producers. Traceability served as a transformative force in the palm oil industry, not only streamlining the tracking of palm oil production but also aiding in effective planning for future interventions and compliance with the EU Deforestation Regulation (#EUDR), which was crucial for accessing EU markets. Key Achievements: 📱 Mapped 1.347 producers, including oil palm producers, female nursery producers, and social forest producers. 📝 Completed detailed assessment of 1,360 plots. 🗺️ Conducted polygon mapping on 1,360 survey plots. By providing access to this critical data, we offered valuable insights into yield performance, enabling producers to meet international standards and comply with the EUDR. The FONAP member project was implemented by Yayasan Fortasbi Indonesia in cooperation with CAPPA, Setara Jambi, and Koltiva, with support from the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). 🚨 EUDR Latest Update 🚨 - On December 3rd, 2024, the ‘trilogue’ between the European Council, Commission, and Parliament reached a provisional agreement confirming a 12-month extension for companies to comply with the EU Deforestation Regulation (#EUDR). This adjustment provides businesses, producers, and authorities with an additional year to prepare. The next step is for Parliament to vote on this informal agreement during the 16-19 December plenary session. For the extension to take effect, it must be endorsed by both Parliament and the Council and published in the EU Official Journal by the end of the year. 📣 At KOLTIVA, we understand that navigating the implications of EUDR can be challenging. Our recent press release, “EUDR Extended Deadline: KOLTIVA Urges Early Action for Latin American Exporters,” sheds light on how businesses can leverage this time to build traceable, compliant supply chains. Looking for practical guidance? Access our on-demand webinar to learn actionable strategies for EUDR compliance: https://lnkd.in/gWVKeG3e 🛡️ Your compliance journey starts now. Cybersecurity is often overlooked in business-building as the focus leans toward core functions. However, neglecting it can have catastrophic consequences. Recent PwC data reveals that a single data breach can cost upwards of $1 million per incident, with such breaches becoming more frequent and severe every year. 🔐 To address this pressing issue, AC Ventures, in collaboration with PwC Indonesia, has launched the Cybersecurity Playbook for Startups. 📘 This comprehensive guide not only highlights the urgent need for robust cyber defense mechanisms but also bridges key knowledge gaps in the venture ecosystem. It offers actionable strategies for tackling cybersecurity threats, understanding core principles, managing incident response, and ensuring regulatory compliance—all critical areas for startups in today’s digital landscape. We’re proud to have contributed to this initiative by sharing insights on cultivating a proactive cybersecurity culture. 🌍 By embedding security into every operational aspect and using the ISO 27001 framework as a guideline for our Information Security Management System (ISMS), we aim to lead by example for startups and scale-ups navigating this critical landscape.

🌱 Brazil, the EU's largest source of agricultural imports, accounts for 9% (€13.4 billion) of all EU agricultural imports and nearly half of the world's soy exports (Olab & Government of the Netherlands, 2024). However, this critical role places Brazil at the center of a deforestation crisis, with escalating rates in the Amazon and Cerrado highlighting the need for sustainable practices. The #EUDR seeks to address this, but a 12-month implementation delay could lead to an estimated 2,300 square kilometers of forest loss. This delay, however, provides businesses with crucial time to prepare for compliance. The EUDR sets stringent deforestation detection thresholds, with a minimum area of 0.5 hectares—about 70mx70m. This is a significant tightening compared to Brazil's existing standards under initiatives like the Amazon Soy Moratorium, which allow for a 25-ha threshold—50 times larger (Olab & Government of the Netherlands, 2024). Compliance with these heightened standards demands advanced technology to deliver unparalleled traceability and transparency across #supplychains. At Koltiva, we are proud to drive this transformation. Our integrated solutions—#KoltiTrace, #KoltiSkills, and #KoltiVerify—empower businesses to navigate the complexities of the EUDR. 👉 Dive deeper into the full story here: https://lnkd.in/gVfGp7WR
