📣🍫 A new milestone for the cocoa sector >> We're proud to share the launch of the first-ever Greenhouse Gas Accounting Standard for the industry, developed by the World Cocoa Foundation in collaboration with Quantis. This groundbreaking standard provides a sector-wide approach to measuring, reporting and mitigating emissions, bringing much-needed consistency to sustainability efforts. 💡Why does it matter? The new GHG accounting standard is set to: ✔ Help companies meet Scope 3 reporting obligations; ✔ Support reporting in accordance with the GHG Protocol and Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi); ✔ Enable carbon reduction initiatives while enhancing financial opportunities for cocoa farmers; ✔ Provide clear guidance on land use change, carbon removals and supply chain transparency. 💬 Alexandra Stern, Land and Agriculture Lead at Quantis US explains: "This new standard is the product of a collaborative effort which integrated insights from key industry stakeholders to effectively address the sector’s unique challenges. By establishing a unified framework, it equips companies with a practical, standardized approach to emissions reporting, fostering greater transparency and driving meaningful climate action.” With a unified approach, the cocoa sector can now move towards actionable, transparent and credible emissions reporting — a critical step toward making sustainable chocolate the norm! 🔗 Read the full press release here: https://bit.ly/3EpukkJ #Sustainability #CocoaIndustry #NetZero #GHGAccounting

🌱 Why should businesses care about nature? It’s simple: Healthy ecosystems are crucial for operations and nature loss threatens companies’ viability. Actively engaging with environmental health can mitigate several business risks: * Physical risks: Maintaining soil quality and pollinator health, for instance, ensures agricultural productivity. * Legal risks: Complying with environmental regulations. * Market risks: Adapting to consumer preferences and supply chain shifts. * Reputational risks: Protecting the brand in an increasingly sustainability-minded market. How is your company tackling these challenges? 🎥 Quantis Sustainability Project Manager Emily Dobson explores the relationship between nature and business risks. 🔗 Discover the fundamentals of building a nature strategy here: https://bit.ly/40A47He

📣 NEW >> Quantis is thrilled to share a deep dive into our work with leading European financial services group Société Générale on the critical topic of nature. 🌱 As key enablers of the real economy, banks can play a role in steering financial flows towards nature-supportive outcomes and supporting their clients in their environmental transition, while sharing in nature-related risks. But addressing the diverse ways in which business activities impact nature is complex — especially for financial institutions and their limited direct data from clients. To enhance its understanding of the potential pressures of its financed activities on nature, Societe Generale engaged Quantis to tackle this challenge. ➡️ Focusing on the power utilities sector, this pilot project looked into the nature impacts of Societe Generale’s credit portfolio using a first-of-its-kind methodology. Authors Jasper Nijdam, Aurore Le Chatelier, Simon Gillet and Nicolas Evensen, PhD are excited to share their lessons learned from this joint effort and contribute to the conversation around the financial sector’s nature journey. 🔗 Download “Understanding nature impacts across financed activities” here: https://bit.ly/3CuxL96
