🛁 What do you do when your bathtub leaks? Do you open the tap wider—or do you fix the leak? The world’s current approach to energy is like trying to fill a leaking bathtub without addressing the leak first. It’s irrational, expensive, and unsustainable. Producing more renewables is absolutely key. But if the current wasteful practices continue, renewables will just add to fossil fuels in order to power the world. Energy efficiency and renewables are twin components that must go hand in hand. And on both components, solutions exist that must be scaled. Live from COP29, the Solar Impulse Foundation and the Global Renewables Alliance (GRA) have just unveiled « Double Down, Triple Up: 20 Solutions in Action » at a special launch event. This impactful publication features 20 success stories—10 on energy efficiency and 10 on renewables—showing that scalable, innovative solutions are already making a difference worldwide. Key highlights from the publication: 💡 Efficiency and renewables together can deliver 80% of the emissions reductions needed to limit global warming to 1.5°C. 💡 Two-thirds of global energy is wasted. Fixing these inefficiencies could save up to $4.5 trillion annually while reducing emissions and boosting energy security. 💡 Solutions like water-smart irrigation systems in Peru and a biomethanisation facility in Turkey demonstrate diverse, scalable ways to cut waste and optimize clean energy. This initiative builds on last year’s pledge to double energy efficiency and triple renewable capacity by 2030, proving that governments, businesses, and communities can turn ambition into action. 📢The solutions exist, and they work. Now is the time to implement them for #EfficiencyNOW 🔗 Discover the publication here: https://lnkd.in/eFHnnR6B 🔗 Read the press release: https://lnkd.in/eV6jhyFx 🔗 Read the news: https://lnkd.in/eHmuEAXA 👐🏼 Thank you to everyone who came today and to those who contributed to the initiative: Bertrand Piccard | Jean Constantinesco | Nawal Al-Hosany | Julia Souder | Bruce Douglas | Noura Tantawy | Asif Nawaz Shah | Giorgia Epicoco | Francesco La Camera | Cristina Moral | Huawei | Holcim | Iberdrola | International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) | Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate & Energy (GCoM) | Solar Impulse Foundation | COP28 UAE | Global Renewables Alliance (GRA) | Aliaxis | GO TO-U | Ecorobotix | Eureden | AQUA4D® | Cool Roof France | Eco-Tech Ceram | wienerberger | BeeBryte - New Ways for Energy Efficiency | DHL | OpenAirlines | Norwegian Airlines | Salvi Lighting Systems | Sixtine Morin | Joy Eggimann | Nathalie Hemeleers | Saga Henriksdotter | Guilherme Machado
