🎤 Bringing Ideas to Life: Talking Science at DBSS-E in Basel! On Tuesday, SpeakUp Lab hosted the Talking Science workshop at ETH Zurich affiliate DBSS-E in Basel, bringing together 14 participants—a mix of scientists, software developers, and engineers—for an evening of growing out of the own comfort zone and discovery. Led by our expert coaches Cora, Oskari, Raphaëlle and Arthur the workshop focused on: ✅ Communicating complex science to non-scientist audiences in an easy, understandable, yet impactful way ✅ Structuring talks to maximize clarity and engagement ✅ Using body language effectively to support and amplify your story and most importantly ✅ How not to put your audience to sleep 🥱 Participants didn’t just learn—they practiced. Each student delivered several presentations, received personalized feedback, and implemented what they learned. The improvement was remarkable, proving a fundamental truth: ✨ Great presenters are not born—they are trained ✨ You worked hard and you really proved that! Aisylu Shaidullina, Arne Schäfer, Lukas Brendel, Simon Höllerer, PhD, Sophie Seidel, Upnishad Sharma, Kerstin L., Hanaka Matsumoto, Vladyslav Bondarenko, Agata Misiaszek, Beichen Gao Well done and all the best for your future presentations! At SpeakUp Lab, we’re proud to empower students and professionals to share their ideas with confidence and impact. Seeing the transformation in just one session inspires us to continue pushing boundaries in science communication and public speaking. Imagine what can happen if you have more than one session? 🤔 #SpeakUpLab #TalkingScience #ScienceCommunication #PublicSpeaking #EffectiveCommunication
