During Art Week, Miami becomes the world capital of contemporary Art and #Switzerland played a key role in this. Since its debut in 2002, ArtBasel Miami Beach has been crucial in making Miami a premier art destination, generating a multimillion-dollar economic impact and boosting the local economy. No other art fair has made such a powerful impact on a city! The City of Miami Beach pioneered this cultural alliance and formalized in 2011 its Sister City agreement with Basel to strengthen cultural and economic ties. I was excited to be part of the organizing team commemorating this partnership. The event took place at the historic Rum Room, where Steven Meiner, Mayor of Miami Beach, Rene Riedi, Hon. Consul of Switzerland in Miami, and the CEO of The Swiss American Chamber of Commerce visiting from Switzerland, Rahul Sahgal, along with commissioners Laura Dominguez and Kristen Rosen-Gonzalez, reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the bonds between Basel and Miami Beach. Kudos to our amazing MC, Blanca Villarello, the Sister Cities Committee, and the Miami Beach community for making the evening an exquisite celebration.
