Today marks #RedHandDay. As we close our week of #RaiseYourRed, our red hands are raised high to demand an end to the recruitment and use of children in armed conflict. Our hands are raised for protection, prevention and accountability. We commit to a better future for children in armed conflict. Accountability is essential for protecting children in armed conflict and ending child recruitment and other grave violations of their rights. Holding perpetrators to account increases costs of noncompliance with international law, deters future violations, and thus better protects children. The listing of perpetrators in the annexes of the Secretary-General's annual reports on children and armed conflict is a powerful tool for promoting accountability. The listing and delisting of perpetrators must be credible and evidence-based, without exception. 1,5 million de bénéficiaires de Terre des hommes sont touchés par la suspension des aides humanitaires provenant des États-Unis. Au total, ce sont 10 millions de dollars de fonds promis qui risquent d’être coupés. 🚨 1.5 million lives impacted. 130,000 children at risk. 430 jobs on the line. $10M of aid frozen.     Last Friday, Terre des hommes, like many NGOs relying on US foreign aid, was hit by the shocking decision to suspend all US-funded grants. This immediate freeze affects critical humanitarian projects in 7 countries (Bangladesh, Kenya, Lebanon, Egypt, Afghanistan, India, Burkina Faso) and indirectly impacts our operations in Romania and Nigeria.     The consequences are devastating:  🔴 Vital health services for mothers and children halted  🔴 Water, sanitation, and mental health programs suspended  🔴 Thousands of children and vulnerable families left without essential support      That’s why we are calling on Swiss decision-makers, foundations, and the public to step up now. One year on from the first International Court of Justice (ICJ) measure, our survey and report lays it clear: over the past year, no meaningful actions to address Gaza's dire humanitarian conditions were observed, allowing the crisis to spiral further in blatant violation of the provisional measures. The recently agreed ceasefire is a vital step to halt the immediate violence and enable humanitarian assistance, but it does not resolve the broader risks or erase past violations.
