TMEU Nature Conservation Day TMEU has been funding projects for several years - so far in Southern Africa to give people access to clean drinking water. With the TMEU Nature Conservation Day, we are now launching something new. Now it is not about the importance of water, but about the fact that many animal and insect species worldwide are threatened with extinction. Together with Swiss BirdLife (https://www.birdlife.ch/) and an organic farm, we planted a hedge this year. This hedge provides food and nesting sites for both insects and birds. Everyone was thrilled to leave their desks behind for once to make a small contribution to nature conservation outside in the fresh air. The work of planting plants in the loamy, wet ground was arduous and not easy. But everyone, without exception, was highly motivated and we managed to plant about 900 plants on a length of 300 meters and shrubs in a short space of time. It was a challenging but rewarding activity where we not only helped the organic farm to protect and promote biodiversity in its fields, but also fostered social relationships between TMEU employees in a refreshing, unique environment.
