🌏 Championing Climate Action in the Pacific: Meet the 2024 UN CC:Learn Champion, Sagaitu Konusi 🌴 From the heart of Fiji, Sagaitu "Itu" Konusi (Sagaitu Konusi) is leading the charge against climate change! As Senior Advisor on Mitigation at the Regional Pacific NDC Hub, Itu has transformed his passion into impactful action. 🌍 Today at #COP29 in Baku, UNITAR and CILSS hosted an impactful event to spotlight the Regional Declaration on Strengthening Climate Change Education in West Africa!  The event brought together youth advocates, educators, ministers, and key stakeholders to amplify the urgent need for climate education in the region. With participants from across West Africa and beyond, voices called for urgent actions to integrate climate education at every level. Among other things, participants emphasized the urgent need for teacher training, ensuring that educators are equipped to pass on critical climate knowledge to the next generation. Additionally, a case was made for the use of adaptation funds for climate education. 📢 The event featured presentations, a press conference, and insightful exchanges that strengthened our shared commitment to climate education in West Africa. The journey continues to secure more endorsements and support for implementing this vital Declaration.
