Info
UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, is a global organisation dedicated to saving lives, protecting rights and building a better future for people forced to flee their homes because of conflict and persecution. We lead international action to protect refugees, forcibly displaced communities and stateless people. We deliver life-saving assistance, help safeguard fundamental human rights, and develop solutions that ensure people have a safe place called home where they can build a better future. We also work to ensure that stateless people are granted a nationality. We work in over 130 countries, using our expertise to protect and care for millions. UNHCR’s greatest asset is our workforce. We work with passionate, talented and creative individuals who want to use their skills for good. Thanks to people like you, we can develop solutions that enable people who have been forced to flee to restart their lives and build better futures. 🌊 “The floods in 2019 washed away everything. Only sorghum survived. When we came back, the farm was underwater,” says Awad Usman, a Sudanese refugee living in Sudan. 🌾 For refugees like Awad, the climate crisis is a fight for survival. In South Sudan, relentless floods are wiping out farms, destroying lives and livelihoods. But just like him, they are not giving up. They are fighting back. With seeds 🌱, tools 🛠️ , and training 📚 from UNHCR, refugees like Awad are rebuilding their livelihoods, one crop at a time.

Mwamini trekked for two weeks with her five children - fleeing violence in the DR Congo. Along the way, they survived food and water shortages and slept on roadsides. Now at a UNHCR-supported displacement site near Goma, Mwamini still faces challenges—her children can’t go to school and food is hard to find. 💭 “What we need most now is shelter and food,” she says, “but what I dream of is peace, so we can go home.” To scale up our response for families like hers, we urgently need more funds.
