Yesterday, I had the pleasure to deliver a lecture to students on the MBA Health Programme at my Alma Mater UCL, which is run by the Global Business School for Health (https://lnkd.in/dNtCDi7v). The lecture covered public-private partnerships in healthcare and in particular the forms of private sector participation that are emerging in the UAE and Saudi Arabia as part of their health system transformations. This is undoubtedly one of the most dynamic areas in healthcare today, where private sector expertise and different forms of capital participation are playing a crucial role in the delivery of healthcare to both public and private patients. One of the unique features of these transformations is the way digital health and AI are being leveraged. This focus on technology and innovation is establishing use cases that will have applications far beyond the region, benefiting both developed and developing economies. Interacting with bright, engaged and forward-thinking students always provides a fresh perspective and energizes my thinking. 🌍 Why is taking climate #action in the transport sector so difficult? Jyoti Bisbey, Executive Committee member of WAPPP, explores this pressing question in her recently published The World Bank report. 🚆 The transport sector's Paris Alignment is one of the most critical development challenges in addressing the #climatechange crisis. Transport emissions are rising faster in low- and middle-income countries (#LMICs) compared to high-income countries, yet the current #climatefinance landscape may not sufficiently support the scale of the challenge. 🌿 For meaningful progress, governments must address the fundamental bankability challenges of green transport projects. A #paradigmshift is urgently needed to reimagine how transport systems and the built environment interact—ensuring alignment with the #ParisAgreement.
