This month, the Swiss AI Summit took place.  📍 My observation: #AI is not just a buzzword in the #DeepTechNation, Switzerland, but a strategic transformation engine that is already impacting and transforming all industries. Swiss Fintech Innovations was honored to organize the Roundtable "About AI – Thoughts within the Financial Sector," which was very well received. We’re looking forward to the written summary of it (👉 stay tuned at Swiss Fintech Innovations). Switzerland, despite leading globally in AI patent filings, faces a paradox: corporate investment in research and innovation is declining, and its national strategy increasingly emphasizes risks over opportunities. In this article, Cornelia Stengel sheds light on how Switzerland's strong track record in AI innovation clashes with its current cautious stance, highlighting FINMA's 2025–2028 strategy. In this strategy, FINMA's focus is heavily on risk minimization at the expense of fostering innovation (incl. loss of investment opportunities).

Your AI works for your competitors. At least if you are just an API wrapper of a large language model. If everybody uses the same generic model, nobody is differentiated. You have to start building your own model, with your data with sovereignty. 1. Your own model can also be a pre-trained open-source LLM. 2. Adapted to your usecase, with your data, and only your instructions. 3. I want to thank Timea and TRUST SQUARE for inviting me as a panellist at the Swiss AI Summit to share insights on the advancements of #AI in #healthcare, both for clinical and operational purposes. It was an incredible experience exchanging ideas with Barbara Meier, Bram Stieltjes, and Chrysanth Sulzberger about the exciting ways forward for this transformative technology, capturing the perspective of different but complementary realities. A special mention to Alessandro – you were an excellent moderator, guiding the conversation with precision and thoughtfulness! AI is already making waves in the world of life sciences: for instance, by accelerating clinical trials through GenAI-powered literature reviews and information retrieval and supporting post-marketing launch efforts by automating complaint handling and CAPA management. However, as we look towards clinical applications, the aid of evolving regulations and reimbursement policies will be crucial to foster trust and drive adoption by healthcare providers. At the same time, it remains a significant challenge, especially for startups, to develop impactful AI-based solutions with the necessary clinical evidence, given the complexity and costs involved. That said, emerging and mature technologies such as small language models, synthetic datasets, and IoT platforms promise to overcome these barriers and unlock AI’s full potential in healthcare #innovation. The summit also provided a fantastic opportunity to connect with experts from various industries, discussing common challenges and how to navigate them.
