And the ZHAW digital community award goes to: 🏆 Marcela Ruiz and Nicole Krüger 🏆 For the third time, the Digital Shaper Award took place in Zurich, where our community honored two individuals from its midst. Marcela and Nicole convinced with their impact and engagement, making a significant contribution to the digital transformation at ZHAW and in society. Marcela is committed to lowering the barriers to entry for non-programmers and Nicole is a driving force in promoting Open Educational Resources (OER) at ZHAW. Since then, it has grown to include over 300 people from all departments and organisational units. The Digitalization Initiative of the Zurich Higher Education Institutions (DIZH) is funding five new projects designed to generate long-term added value for society. ZHAW researchers are leading or involved in four of these projects. 🔹IMMERSE is committed to the digital transformation of education and training through immersive teaching and learning technologies. With Helmut Grabner from the ZHAW School of Engineering, and team from Universitätsklinik Balgrist, PHZH and UZH. 🔹AI-BRIDGE brings responsible AI to the ground by bridging the gap between societal values and development of AI technology and solutions. With Ricardo Chavarriaga, Christoph Heitz from the ZHAW School of Engineering, and a team from UZH, ZHdK, PHZH, and 17 practice partners. 🔹 Digilinguo is a platform that aims to overcome language barriers in public institutions. The future of robots - what can we expect? 🤔🤖 Insights into assistive robots, autonomous drones, and a demo of the humanoid robot Unitree G1 were some of the highlights of an event co-organised by ZHAW digital, the Universität Zürich | University of Zurich, Lab42, and Mindfire. At two locations, more than 200 visitors watched the robot perform live and heard about research projects and prospects in Zurich and Winterthur. DIZH fellow Yulia Sandamirskaya spoke about the advantages of the humanoid form, the need for embodied AI and her recent projects. In one of her projects, she utilises neuromorphic computing, which can enable real-time 3D vision for object detection, localisation, and pose estimation – key tasks for vision in robotics. In Zurich, Davide Scaramuzza from the Robotics and Perception Group of the University of Zurich showcased a race of autonomous fast flying drones. In ihrer Bachelorarbeit befragte sie Software-Entwickler:innen und Scrum Master (Erklärung im Blog), da gerade die IT-Branche mit einem Teufelskreis der Überlastung zu kämpfen hat und Teams "Gschpürschmi"-Themen wie Achtsamkeit oft kritisch gegenüberstehen.
