Love seafood and want it delivered to your home? Here are our favorite places to buy seafood online (even if you're landlocked)!
More and more of us are ordering our food online.
And (interestingly), grocery stores are selling more fish than ever before.
It makes sense.
If you typically order seafood at restaurants, but suddenly you're not eating out as often, you may decide to cook the fish yourself!
Recently, I've been hearing the same question over and over again.
"Where do you buy your seafood?"

Nervous about cooking fish? Try herb butter salmon, broiled cod with lemon sauce and salmon Caesar salad, three of my favorite easy fish recipes.
What Should I Know In Order To Buy Seafood Online?
If you buy seafood online, it can be an incredibly convenient way to get your favorite fish and crustaceans!
Since the deliveries are perishable, it's a good idea to keep an eye on your tracking number and get the fish from the box to your freezer or fridge right away (or as quickly as possible).
Keep in mind that the available seafood selections will vary wildly throughout the year, especially with wild-caught fish. Because seafood is seasonal!
For example, King salmon runs are in the summer, so you'll see it available primarily in the late summer through early winter.
Finally, remember that not all seafood companies are equal.
Some seafood retailers pack the fish in chemicals, or sell fish that wasn't quickly frozen after catching. In my experience, both the chemicals and slow processing will change the flavor of the fish (for the worse).

The Grocery Store
The cheapest option, by far, is going to be your local grocery store.
If you're looking for seafood but are on a tight budget, check into grocery delivery or curbside pickup.
That said, if you're looking for seafood to replace the higher-end fish you'd typically get at a nice restaurant, you might not find that at the grocery store.
Thrive Market
Can't find what you're looking for at your regular grocery store?
Try an online grocery store like Thrive Market!
Thrive Market is a membership-style grocery store that's stocked with discounted, primarily organic, pantry items. Think of it like an online Costco, but focused on items you'd find in a health store.
But Thrive Market also has a seafood section, and my readers rave about it!
You'll have to order in bulk, so it can be a little pricy up-front.
Vital Choice
Finally, check into online seafood-specific grocery stores like Vital Choice Wild Seafood & Organics.
With Vital Choice, you can customize a seafood box (like a regular grocery store order) or get monthly recurring deliveries.
Vital Choice has a selection of wild-caught, high-end seafood.
Buy Seafood Online with a CSF Subscription
A Community Supported Fishery works differently than a grocery store.
If you're familiar with farmer's market CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) boxes, it's a similar concept.
Instead of ordering specific fish, you sign up for a monthly delivery of whatever type of seafood is scheduled for the month.
The type of seafood varies depending on which share option you select, and could change slightly depending on what the fisherman actually catch.

Buy Seafood Online with Monthly Alaska Seafood Subscription Boxes
We’ve tried subscriptions from Sitka Seafood Market, but have also heard great things about a similar service, Wild Alaskan Company.
These services provide a monthly box of Alaska seafood. These companies are similar to CSFs, but may work with larger, slightly less local production services.
Special Mention: Live Shellfish Delivery
Looking for live shellfish delivery?
We've ordered from Rappahannock Oysters and I'd highly recommend them!
Friends of ours love Maine Lobster Now for live lobster delivery.
