Climate change is affecting all countries on all continents, but Latin America is particularly affected by its effects. These effects are impacting the environment and economies. Therefore, all actors must contribute to taking concrete and immediate measures.   In this context, innovation has become key to the success and survival of organizations in a changing and increasingly technological world, creating new business models and offering unsuspected opportunities to companies and especially to startups.   This is why innovation, and technology can have a great impact on society, politics and the economy, as well as having the potential to become the driving force of sustainable development. As the State of Bavaria Office for South America, we'd like to invite you to apply to the Transforming Inorganic Industrial Waste into Sustainable Construction Materials open call, in partnership with leading Uruguayan pulp manufacturers Montes del Plata and UPM. The goal of this program is to pilot innovative technologies aimed at transforming inorganic waste from the pulp and paper industry—such as dregs, grits, fly ash, bottom ash, and lime kiln dust—into value-added construction materials. Based on your innovative technology, we believe that your solution would be a good fit for this program! During the Chilean-German Raw Material Forum 2024, organized by AHK Chile and supported by the Ministerio de Minería de Chile, BMWK and the State of Bavaria Office for South America, we had the chance to contribute to the international dialogue about multidimensional collaboration for responsible mining and resilient raw material supply chains. With the active participation of Prof. Dr. Michael Danzer director of Bavarian Center for Battery Technology (BayBatt) and the keynote presentation of Prof. Christoph Helbig of University of Bayreuth the audience reviewed and discussed topics for a close collaboration with Germany like: • Strategic Raw Materials for Critical Industries • Strategic Knowledge Clusters for Resilient Supply Chains • Strategic Cross Industry Innovation for Energy Transition • Strategic Talent Development for Responsible Mining In within the framework of the last discussion panel, Richard Dieter Frenz, Vice President at MAN Truck & Bus SE highlighted the importance of women that can contribute positively to a responsible and sustainable mining. Furthermore, MAN presented their H2 MAN Truck for South America: Pioneering Hydrogen Solutions in Mining!! Chile is leading the way in innovation and sustainability. For the past two years, the country has operated hydrogen-powered machinery in its mining sector, showcasing its commitment to cleaner, more efficient operations. Building on this progress, interest in MAN's hydrogen trucks is growing rapidly. At the Chilean-German Raw Material Forum 2024, they introduced the hydrogen-powered truck, designed for the tough demands of South American mining. The Latin American version of OktoberINVESTfest 2024 is a sister venture conference of the Bavarian Representation in New York, which the State of Bavaria Office for South America organized together with AHK Peru, HUB UDEP, PUCP, UPCH, PROMPERU and PECAP on October 29, 2024, in Lima, Peru.
