About us
ABOUT: LIFAFA RESEARCH FOUNDATION (LRF) is a research focused organization which aims at creating awareness on research, and actively involve youths in research as a way of empowering them especially. It carries out both community and clinical research, changing the ordinary narrative of research in Cameroon by Promoting and Redefining research in its simplest form and to communicate the results for community development and to influence or stimulate policy making for nation building. The motto of the foundation is to “Redefining and Promote Research”. Its office and headquarters being in Buea, LRF operates with a seal and a round stamp bearing the name of the association. VISION: LRF recognizes that there is the need to modify research, change the ordinary narratives by redefining research. LRF envisions a Cameroon where youths are very proactive in engaging in research activities in order to be empowered and identify their skills, which will enable them to use the internet responsibly and constructively to search, publish relevant and very educative information that will enable them to be productive in Cameroon, Africa and the world at large and thus make positive change and impact. MISSION: LRF aims at modifying the approach through which research is carryout in our society by providing research mentorship and assisting youths in identifying their skills in order to be self-employed for nation building. OBJECTIVES: Provide research mentorship To organise research education seminars and workshops Promote active participation of youths in research Assist youths in identifying their skills and to be self-employed for nation building. Through interactive workshops and peer-led discussions, the clubs' ambassadors have been tackling pressing topics such as: - Mental health literacy and stigma reduction. - Building resilience and coping strategies. - Navigating temperament, personality, and emotional intelligence. - Supporting peers to overcome anxiety, depression and substance use. By fostering a safe, inclusive space for students to share their experiences and concerns, the Mental Health Clubs are helping to break down barriers and encourage help-seeking behaviors. This pioneering initiative serves as a model for other educational institutions, demonstrating the power of student-led advocacy and community-driven support. Let us continue to amplify the importance of mental health and wellness in our schools and communities. 𝐋𝐨𝐮𝐢𝐬 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈𝐄𝐒𝐒𝐁 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞 𝐃𝐨𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐚 : 𝐀 𝐒𝐮𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 At Lifafa Research Foundation, we recently organized cervical cancer awareness outreach programs at St. Louis University and IESSB College Douala. Our goal was to educate students about the risks, symptoms, and prevention methods associated with cervical cancer. 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 𝐎𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰 The programs were well-received, with a combined attendance of over 140 students. Our team presented informative sessions on cervical cancer, distributed educational materials, and engaged students in interactive question-and-answer sessions. 𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐎𝐮𝐭𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐬 The outcomes of the programs were encouraging: - 96 students attended the program at St. Louis University, with 30 students expressing interest in volunteering with Lifafa Research Foundation. - 48 students attended the program at IESSB College, with 35 students showing interest in joining Lifafa Research Foundation. 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐅𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐃𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 We are proud of the impact we have made and grateful for the support of our partners and volunteers.
