Applied Photophysics provides solutions for biophysical characterisation of biomolecules.

关于我们

Applied Photophysics, of Leatherhead, Surrey, UK, is a leading provider of solutions for the biophysical characterization of biomolecules and has been providing spectroscopy to the research community for over 50 years. Chirascan™ systems use the phenomenon of circular dichroism (CD) to characterize changes in the higher order structure of proteins. These systems are used in cutting-edge research and to support the development of innovator drugs and biosimilars in the biopharmaceutical industry. The company’s SX-range of stopped-flow spectrometers is acknowledged globally as the gold standard for kinetic studies of fast biochemical reactions. Through a joint venture with Fluorescence Innovations Inc of Minneapolis, MN, USA, operating as Protein Stable, we have also introduced easy-to-use high-throughput protein stability screening with microplate-based intrinsic fluorescence thermal ramping and chemical melt plate readers.

Structural Insights into SLF1’s Role in Replication-Coupled DNA Repair and SMC5/6 Complex Recruitment using our Circular Dichroism Instrument 🔬 This study by the University of Leeds explores the structural mechanisms behind SLF1 (SMC5–SMC6 complex localization factor 1) interactions, which are essential for DNA damage repair at stalled replication forks. The researchers determined the crystal structure of SLF1's ankyrin repeat domain bound to an unmethylated histone H4 tail, revealing how SLF1 interacts with nascent nucleosomes. Using mutagenesis, they confirmed the importance of phosphorylation in SLF1’s interaction with RAD18, crucial for a stable complex. They also discovered that SLF1’s RAD18-binding interface has a DNA-binding property, further aiding the repair process. These findings provide new insights into how SLF1 facilitates the recruitment of the SMC5/6 complex during replication-coupled DNA repair. 📖 Learn More: https://lnkd.in/eWCrthwY Check out the Chirascan V100 used in this Publication: https://bit.ly/4eWBYzo #DNARepair #ReplicationForks #SLF1

Researchers from the University of Washington and Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) developed a GFP-based aspartate sensor, jAspSnFR3, to address the limitations of traditional mass spectrometry in measuring aspartate levels. The sensor exhibits a 20-fold fluorescence increase upon aspartate binding, covering physiologically relevant concentrations with high specificity. In mammalian cells, jAspSnFR3 accurately tracked aspartate levels and temporal changes caused by genetic, pharmacological, or nutritional manipulations. This innovative tool enables real-time, high-throughput studies of aspartate metabolism and its role in cellular function. 📖 Learn More: https://lnkd.in/eYQe4vSc Check out the SX20 used in this publication: https://bit.ly/3OmjnCc #AspartateMetabolism #Biosensor #FluorescenceImaging
