Long Duration Energy Storage is a hot ⭐ topic in this field, incl. Pumped-hydro, Compressed-air, Gravity, Flow battery, Molten salt thermal and Hydrogen storage, etc. On Nov 28th, 2024, We CNESA first officially announced our definition of LDES for China market: With rated power, non-stop discharge >=4 hours, or days, months, large-scale low-cost energy storage technology. In specific, (1) Mid-long-term ES: 4-10 hours. (2) Long-term ES: 10 hours to 1 week. (3) Ultra-long-term ES: >= 1 week Our estimate of LDES installation till 2030 is 23 GW in China, 20% of non-hydro ES. Ultra-long term ES till 2060 is 150GW. 💡 💡 💡
