Every weekend needs its project! What is yours? We found an exciting one in Sweden. More precisely in in Färingsö, one of the many islands in Lake Mälaren, west of Stockholm. This is the place where Swedish woodworker Mathias Mörlin truly flourishes when his creativity and curiosity get into full flow. There's no doubt whatsoever that it was the right path for Mathias. His pure passion for his craft radiates out of him. He speaks enthusiastically about a wooden barn, which he has already been working on for some months. It is almost 300 years old and part of a larger private estate. His job is to restore the barn so that it can be used for celebrations and gatherings in the summer months. The task: That involves delicately maintaining its historical substance and renewing it sustainably with limited funds. For Mathias Mörlin, it is "a unique project that is exactly what I imagined it would be." Why? "As there are no easy solutions for it, I need good ideas and am doing things I have never done before." Did you know that? Festool builds most of the motors for its power tools itself. Today we have a few exclusive Festool Insights: We visited the motor construction team at our factory in Neidlingen, Germany, and were quite amazed! In our motor construction department, a team of 32 employees produces the electric motors for over 70 different #powertools. These include the new ETSC 2 cordless random orbital sander and the CSC-SYS 50 cordless circular saw. The department has been in existence since 1955 and technology has developed rapidly since then. The new machines now exclusively use brushless electric motors because they are more efficient and virtually wear-free. Up to 600,000 brushless motors are produced here every year. Added to this are another 800,000 universal motors. That's a considerable amount. "Motor production is a core competence at Festool, which we deliberately want to have at our site in Germany. On the one hand, it is the proximity to development and on the other hand, our modular system enables developers to select the right motor for the product. Our motors are manufactured according to a modular principle. This means that up to 200,000 different variants are possible" says Frank Heppner, head of the motor construction team at Festool. "In the production of our brushless electric motors, we rely on conscious automation in combination with trained personnel to ensure quality, variance and flexibility to our assembly plants. Our production facility has been developed, designed and built in-house in collaboration with long-standing partners." Festool is expanding its range with a new air purifier that filters harmful airborne dust from the air. Its compact Systainer format and low weight make it ideal for mobile and stationary applications. The new SYS-AIR uses a powerful, two-stage filter system to comprehensively clean the air. This means that the smallest dust particles and other pollutants end up in the air purifier, and not in the lungs. The Factory Of The Year award is one of the most prestigious industrial competitions in Europe and awards the ‘Oscar for the manufacturing industry’ every year. Festool has already won awards in the past and this year we were able to bring a category win back to Weilheim/Neidlingen. Our small series production was recognised as ‘outstanding’ by the committee. It was acknowledged that we are able to produce products in small quantities and are therefore able to map a high variance in production well and very flexibly in all areas involved. Melanie Freywald, born in Berlin, Germany, moved to the UK in 1998. After starting an office job in London, she quickly realised it wasn’t for her and needed something more hands-on. In 2002, Mel became a #Painter and #Decorator and now runs a successful business called Colour and Paper. “When I was trying to figure out what to do next, I painted my flat, then family and friends’ homes, and they said how good I was. Now I can’t see myself doing anything else; I’ve been doing this for 23 years,” says Mel. She learned her skills early as a teenager from her parents, spending most summers helping them paint and decorate their family home. In 2023, Melanie applied and became an #ExoActive product tester for Festool, where she tried and tested the active #exoskeleton for six months on different jobs. The previous year, she suffered many injuries that caused her to lose a lot of jobs, so she was looking for a solution to help her get back on her feet. Her first ‘Exo Moment’ was at the Festool UK training centre. “You have certain expectations, but I didn’t think it would work that well; it was mind-blowing.” Taking it back home and putting it through its paces, that’s when the real test started. “Using it on very large ceilings and overhead work, it was such a game changer." Last Friday, on 20.09.24, was World Cleanup Day and we successfully organised waste collection campaigns at four of our company sites - in Wendlingen, Weilheim, Neidlingen and Česká Lípa. With grabbing tongs, bin bags and plenty of good humour, our teams diligently lent a hand and made a valuable contribution to a cleaner environment. A huge thank you goes to the 100 volunteers who took part in our rubbish collection campaign and collected over 90 bags of rubbish. A big thank you to everyone involved - your commitment to the environment makes a real difference! We were not alone: Several million people from over 190 countries took part in World Cleanup Day this year worldwide and we are already looking forward to the next World Cleanup Day on September 20th 2025! #WorldCleanupDay24 #ThePowerofWE #sustainability #teamwork 

Last week, we welcomed a special guest: André Göbel inspires his more than 387,000 followers with his projects, which he regularly publishes on his YouTube channel ‘create’. André and our trainer Frank talked together about André's upcoming projects and, of course, tried out our latest products. 🤩 In addition to the new SYS-AIR air purifier and the two cordless work lights SYSLITE KAL C and SYSLITE KBS C, André was also able to try out numerous exciting power tools. These included Festool Allstars such as the Domino joining machine, the new OF 1010 R router and our compact cordless screwdrivers CXS and TXS 12.
